Will there be a 2020 football season?
#1
My guess is we will get an abbreviated season.

Possibly starting in September if the NCAA starts their season on schedule. Hard to see the KHSAA starting Fall sports if the pro & college leagues are playing without crowds or even playing games at all.

Isnt looking good for sports period. People better turn to hunting and fishing or even farming or gardening.

It’ll have to be pushed back with how little preparation teams are going to get with this thing maybe lasting until beginning of August. Be real sad to see though and I hope it doesn’t come to that.
If you need any assistance or want to report a problem feel free to PM me and we will get it taken care of!  Thank you for choosing to be apart of the BGR community!

Just my opinion but pushing the season out of the dangerous heat of August isn’t the worst idea in the world.

I believe KHSAA will push back the start of summer practice about a month and the regular season will begin in mid September. With that being said, I look for basketball and baseball to be pushed back as well. I don't know about the rest of you, but playing football during Christmas week and New Years week would be pretty neat, but hopefully this virus peaks early and we can start on time.

Football may play a shortened season, but pushing basketball back will not be an option. JMO

Just saw 4 members of the Brooklyn Nets tested positive for Covid-19..... NBA super star Kevin Durat being one of the four.

I know the KHSAA and the NBA aren't the same thing, but there is no way I see Mr. JT and the KHSAA BOC allowing any activity to take place before the professional & college ranks give the 'All Clear' allowing the resumption of any activity.

Going to high school football games in late December does not sound like a good idea to me. It's cold enough in November.

Sure it is, but heat stroke is much more dangerous than I’m uncomfortable it’s so cold.

Obviously no one knows how this is going to play out. However, right now....from what I’m hearing....fall sports are in some peril.

As long as football practice could start by late July the season will not be shortened or moved.

Cancel the season for 2020 and give Pikeville the 1A football state championship, right 2000PHS

You mean the trophy hasn’t already arrived!?

Just kidding you alittle but we have no idea when things are going to get straightened out.

That is a factor every year. You'd be practicing in the heat either way. I can't see any high school football season extending into late December.

It seems organizations are trying to top each other on how far they can push things back. I saw an article today about China getting back to normal after seven weeks or so. I have a hard time believing we can't have football by July.

I figured they went ahead and engraved a plate at the start of each year? Ya know, just Incase their officials are able to make every game scheduled! 😊

I agree Patriot. I just hate it for these young kids but it’s a situation none of us has ever encountered, apparently we’re at the mercy of this virus for now. Just pray we get through it as fast as we possibly can. Crazy stuff.

Don’t know about the officials Blue-Bird, but the next 3 years that might as well engrave it for the Pikeville Panthers and you know this situation has drove me crazy. Had to get on here to get some of this boredom out. Hope you guys stay safe and hope this thing passes and life gets back to normal. God bless you guys on BGR.

If what we're hearing about the Adkins kid from Ridgeview transferring to Pikeville is true, then look out. This would solidify Pikeville's chances even more at another championship title.

I heard this rumor but I will wait before I will say anything about it, but personally I don’t see it happening. Now the big kid from Mingo Central I believe that will happen and that will really make their offense and defensive lines better but I believe that will be one of their strengths anyway.

There will be football!

Let there be football!!!

Yeah Patriot. I think they will have more size on both sides this season, with some returning with experience. From what i hear, the kid from Mingo has experience and size from last season. As far as Adkins from RV, yep a rumor is just that a rumor, but sometimes rumors become reality. If this Wuhan virus don't wreck havoc on the football season, then we should know by then for sure.

I guess I’m in the minority here. I 99% believe there will be football. A full season. At the worst we lose week zero.
#27
Many reports are saying that this virus will be worse in the fall, if that is the case we may start the season, but it probably wont finish.

I don’t know if it is true but I was told his father works in Pikeville, now you may know but I don’t.

Didn't know that. But i do know he was impressed with Pikeville's program and was showing interest in transferring. No doubt, a plus if he comes in.
