Will there be a 2020 football season?
I hear you 55 but Pikeville will already be loaded again regardless of who that guy is. Pikeville and Belfry should be back to Kroger, would be a shame if there is no football. Think of all the scholarships that would be lost by these student athletes. Let them play, here's a hint to the KHSAA they are already working out together and getting outside and throwing the ball around.

If true, I’m not sure I would put that on here.

I don't know if you and I have ever agreed on anything on here but I agree with you 100% on this thread, especially about the cancelling of football season. First, as far as the transfer, I was just pointing out that his height was a little exaggerated at 6'3". I didn't want the kid showing up and people being a little shocked he's not what was said, for the fans sake and especially his. The kid is a pretty decent football player (if its who I think it is). IMO, he'd have to work very hard to jump in front of anyone you guys have already established there and have already groomed in the Panther Way to take over as starters.

The young man should have just stayed put at one of the other schools he was at instead of jumping around. If he would have stayed at Belfry, he wouldn't have started for the Pirates the last two years but he would have got some valuable playing time and learned the system and would have had a very good chance of earning a starting spot this year. These kids need to learn they can't just jump from school to school every year chasing a starting position or a ring and expect to make an impact as soon as they go to another place right away unless it's a program that's not very solid. You can't do that at schools like Belfry and Pikeville unless your just a superstar. He'd had his ring if he would have stayed put and waited his turn.

I know I'll probably catch some heat from people on here because of my "chasing rings" comment but I'm just saying what most people already know and want to say themselves. I'm not downing the kid or any other but this needs to be said. Some of these kids have to learn the meaning of loyalty! And you know me pretty well already from being on here that I really dont care what people think. Same as you. Lol

As far as the other part, I'm pretty sure you and I are on the same page when it comes to that topic. This virus has done exactly what some politicians wanted it to do. Cause panic. And they succeeded. This whole thing has been blown completely out of proportion if you ask me. And I do not think anybody, on here or anywhere else, should be talking about canceling this coming football season 5 or 6 months away. That's ridiculous.

Alot can happen in that amount of time. So why talk about it now? Prepare like there's going to be a season. Then come mid July if things have not got better then start talking about it. Not in April or May. Folks are causing alot of panic on issues that are not even relevant right now. Pretty sure we have enough problems to worry about and need to try to solve instead of adding problems that may not even be a problem when the time comes.
thecoacher Wrote:If true, I’m not sure I would put that on here.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about team organized activities. I think he meant kids are outside throwing the ball around trying to stay active and in shape on their own. You can throw a football around and not break their "social distancing" guidelines of 6 feet.
I agree with you 100% 55, we are on the same side finally, and I am happy about that haha. Of course there are no school sanctioned activities. And kids are working out together and throwing the football around and no, kids are not staying 6 feet apart, none of them are sick or even worried about getting sick. I think we are in for another great football season even if it is delayed and hope your son has a great year 55, he has earned it.

Thanks buddy, I appreciate that. Looking forward to his first year at UC. And yes, it is good to finally be on the same page. And to think it only took a virus to end our war! LMAO
I am not worried about the virus as much as reading JetPilot and #55PirateFan getting along, a miracle has occurred in a pandemic. Hahahaha love you guys though

Totally agree with what your saying here 55. Tbh, i was going by 24/7 sports comments on his Twitter page regarding his size(6' 3"). Then after watching hudl video of last season, i questioned the height myself. He does have good footwork and quickness for his size (weight). One thing i believe to be true, like jp said, Pikeville will be fine with or without him. I just saw it as a good addition.

Surprised the hell out of us to my friend! LOL! Just goes to show, anything can happen. Like having a football season in a few months.

I figured that's what it was friend. I see kids doing that all the time. Adding a little extra here and there. Then the next thing you know the so called media people don't check for facts and just runs with it and puts out wrong information alot of times. Then when the kid shows up, your expecting Goliath but get David. Lol!

I agree, Pikeville will be just fine either way. I'm not sure what the Panthers have returning on the D-Line, but if its starters from last year I dont see the young man transferring in taking anyone's spot who's already established.

Like I said before, its pretty tough to come in off the street after playing at 2-3 different places in the last 2-3 years and take a starting position away from a kid that's been in the same system the last 2-3 years and knows how things are done and is familiar with the program. I could be wrong though.

Lol. Maybe he'll come in between a goliath and a David in height. Was he on Belfry's team season before last?
The young man you guys are talking about I agree I don’t think he is that tall unless he grew a lot from last season but in saying that I do think he will help the team. One reason even though you could say that Pikeville has 3 of the starters on the defensive line back but in my opinion you can’t have enough big men for defensive or offensive lineman. You have to give them some rest to try and keep fresh legs on the field. This according to who they move back to linebacker to fill some holes and some of the down lineman has the speed to make that move. Coach Mac will work that out during the season if they get to play. If it’s a short season it’s hard telling what team is going to come out on top. That would probably benefit a team that has a lot of returning players that could have a good shot going all the way to state championship. Just hope it works out that they get to play, just have to wait and see.

It'll be one or the other, LOL!

Yeah, he played at Belfry year before last. But he played mostly on the JV team if I remember correctly. He may have played some "mop up" time for the Varsity but I'm not sure. If he did it wasn't much. Then he transferred across the river and played last season at Mingo Central. Now I'm hearing he's transferred back into KY again and is at Pikeville. Not sure what's going on with the young man but that's alot of moving around. I know why he left Belfry but not sure why he left M.C.

Heard enrolled before the pandemic started but also heard the Hatfield (the younger one) enrolled at Belfry.
Patriot1 Wrote:Heard enrolled before the pandemic started but also heard the Hatfield (the younger one) enrolled at Belfry.

Wow! Are you serious about the Hatfield kid? Hadn't heard that. That is another one (at least his older brother did) that transferred back and forth from school to school. The older one would play football at Mingo Central then transfer to Logan or Chapmanville for basketball season, then back. WV finally caught on to what was going on and put a stop to it. Atleast that's what the guys at M.C. told me. I don't see how parents can keep doing that. There must not be any rule against it. Who knows. I just dont see how it can possibly benefit these kids moving around so much. Especially in sports. About the time you learn one programs system, your off to another. Be honest, it's really none of my business I guess. People can do what ever makes them happy.
The Hatfield kid that enrolled at Belfry is Zayne Hatfield. I am not sure if he is related to Devin or Drew. He will be a junior. He is a good looking kid that is listed at 6'2" and about 180 and played DB for the Miners and is a nice athletic addition for the Pirates.
I know many people believe college football only exists in the south, but we like our football in the BIg Ten as well.
Several districts have four & five teams... only two districts have three teams.

Let’s just hope they get to play some games.
Football going on all over the country as we speak.
KHSAA is exploring the idea of switching baseball to fall and football to spring.

Where did you get this info? Commissioner Tackett never mentioned it in his Zoom meeting yesterday.
plantmanky Wrote:Many reports are saying that this virus will be worse in the fall, if that is the case we may start the season, but it probably wont finish.
Many reports of BS too. lol
There won’t be a season if fans aren’t allowed or limited in attendance. No way most schools can have a season without the cash from the gate and concessions coming in.
pjdoug Wrote:Many reports of BS too. lol

That, my friend, is the truth if I ever saw it.

Do the governors who are keeping schools closed have U.S. data that contradict these findings?

Some more good news -- "We have not found a single instance of a child infecting parents."

This is exactly what the Swiss concluded as well.

If this continues to hold true, it's a very big deal.

I’ve heard this as well from multiple contacts.
OutlawJoseyWales Wrote:I’ve heard this as well from multiple contacts.

Official contacts, like through the KHSAA? Again, Mr Tackett never made 1 mention of this during the meeting and he did offer many suggestions. Also, I personally called the head of our local officials association and he said they have had zero discussions about it. So, name the official sources that you have heard mention it. I think some fans have discussed it, but not sure it has gone beyond that.
During his Zoom session he did say that baseball/softball coaches have asked to have a short season in the fall, like 3 weeks, to make up for what they lost. He also said that he was opposed to that due to the strain it would put on small schools that share athletes.
Also, Indiana plans to open activities for fall sports on July 1st. https://www.maxpreps.com/news/ZOmCTTYVCU...july-1.htm

Two principals and three superintendents all have mentioned this as a possibility. Just sharing what I’ve heard
