Enjoyed listening to this one on radio.
Two pretty good teams.
Pikeville vs Martin Co on Saturday if it happens is a must see.

A guy from Q95 in Prestonsburg just said on air to the Shelby Valley coach “You talking to me coach?”
Got to love it. Looks like SV vs Pikeville in semifinals.

43-33 looks bad for SV in the semis vs Pikeville

After seeing Johnson going, this Pikeville team can not only make this region a cake walk, but have great potential to make more noise at the All A State Tournament. When everyone is playing as a whole they are without a doubt dangerous. Betsy Layne just too weak to compete with the Panthers.

I watched this one online. Pikeville was just way too athletic for Betsy Layne. They shouldn't have any trouble winning the 15th Region All-A title.

Pikeville has too much size for any team in the Region. Looked like Pikeville plan was to take away BL first and really only option and held him to only 4 first half points I think. BL tried to do the same with Samons but Johnson and Fitzer stepped up. I think Pikeville’s coach is the best in the Region at developing talent. Fitzer played just a little bit last year and now he’s probably the most dominate big in the Region. Outside of Robinson, only looked like Parsons was being aggressive to score for BL. Other players looked about the same from last year. Seems like their coach should try to develop his players in the off season a little more. Also BL likes to play a helter skelter type defense with its press. If you can get by the first trap, it seems like there’s a layup on the other end. BL needs you to turn the ball over to get extra possessions cause besides Robinson I don’t think they can score enough points.

In case I wasn't clear it seemed like it was confrontational both ways. Impossible to know over radio, sure seemed like it.

Betsy Layne coach has lost the locker room is the story being told. Handful of players already quit and more on the way out is the news floating around. No internal control of the program whatsoever. Players were clearly tuning him out this game. 8 assists for a team that plays and relys on guards is what you get when you see them in a half court game. No ball movement. All one on one stuff. Coach either won't or can't control this team.

Not sure they have too much size? Martin Co. lineup has a kid 6’5, 2 kids 6’3 and a kid 6’2 in the starting lineup. Not to mention a 6’7’ kid coming off the bench and every sub is 6’1’ plus…..Martin co is by far the most athletic team in the region!

I never said anything about most athletic team.

Maybe, but they will have to be much more athletic than last year when Pikeville beat them by 14, 22 and 25.

2. Pikeville was without a key player.
3. Disappointed MC didn't win by double digits? Pikeville led almost the entire second half and was up by 7 midway through the 4th.
5. You act like putbacks shouldn't count and Pikeville doesn't get credit for shutting Hale down.
4. Pikeville has more room for improvement. I fully expect them to be ready to win the 15th and get back to Rupp. We shall see.
Having said all that, good luck to MC in Richmond.

Samons is the best player in the Region so good luck containing him. I’m not a Pikeville fan but Appalachian Wireless Arena is Upike home court not Pikeville high schools. You seem so worried about the bigger floor. News flash they play Harlan on that bigger floor next week and if they play Pikeville again in the Region tournament, it will be on the bigger floor. MC played a good game. Not having Jarrel who is a starter and still up 7 with two mins to go, seems to me Pikeville lost it by being sloppy more so that MC being 10+ points better.(01-14-2023, 02:38 PM)jetpilot Wrote:After watching the game I’m dissapointed Martin co didn’t win by double digits.
