This song was played 50 years ago today (July 31) at the funeral of Bruce Lee. He was laid to rest that same day in Seattle, 1973. May he rest in peace...

I can only imagine our very on lovely and talented Granny Bear in college in 1970, showing up on campus and rocking that same hairstyle as the one and only Miss Dusty Springfield. Gosh, I love that lady.  And I love Dusty, too.  lol

Still a fave

Known for his humor but he actually had a really nice singing voice.

Also best known for his comedy but, he too, could flat out sing.  A message that resonates as much now as it did 50 years ago. This goes out to all my friends on here, the ones that agree with me, as well as the ones who take a different view.  You're all beautiful, in your own way.

We lost a fine musician on Monday when Rick Derringer died.  You probably remember his hit, "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo from 1973.  But some may have forgotten that Rick sang this hit song 60 years ago as a 17 year old in the group The McCoys. RIP, Mr. Derringer.

The Ohio state legislature once voted this song as the official state song of Ohio. It was a staple at Ohio State football games.

Here's Mr. Derringer as a 17 y.o. with the McCoys in 1965. Man, were girls sexy back then. What do you think about the dancer, Jet? Granny Bear, did you dance like this at CC ? My dad was in college there when this song was popular.

Two guys who I think were vastly underrated by the general public were born two years apart and died 14 months apart. Both were born in Ohio. The aforementioned , Rick Derringer was born in Celina, OH in 1947, and the other, Eric Carmen,  was born in Clevelend in 1949. Eric, like Rick, was a very skilled guitarist , and was known for his melodic and catchy guitar work , especially within the power pop genre with the Cranberries. Jet has already posted his classic, "Go All the Way."  Here's another forgotten gem from way back. No one did a power pop song like Cleveland's, Eric Carmen.
