From what you've saw this year, who do you think are the top players in the 15th region. At the beginning of the year I figured McCarty would coast easily with JC, but it hasn't turned out that way, so I'll take him off my list.
I hae to go with Ashley Hatfield and Jacob Bryant, Ashley is getting quite a few double-double's on the year and he is only a freshmen. Jacob just flat out plays every night, scoring, I heard, around 30 points against Warren Central.
What do you all think?

What has landon slone done so good this year that makes him above the rest?

Well i watched him play the other night and his performace did not empress me that much yeah he had 20 ptshe is pretty good . but as much as he shot he sure should have had more.. I just dont think that he is number 1 in the region...

Slone's pull up jumper is cash, misses it rarely. If he could shoot less 3's and drive more and shoot that pull up jump shot he has then wow dominate force!

Landon does so many things good.
He is an amazing offensive player. He handles the ball very well, with minimal turnovers. He rarely takes a bad shot. He has a very high basketball IQ; he truly understands the game. He shoots the ball excellently, from long range and short range. I have yet to see someone who can guard him one on one, and have seen few who could double team him and keep him from scoring. He keeps his pivot foot better than anyone I have ever seen. He also has very quick hands which provide him with deflections and steals. He has an amazing knack for where the ball is, and gets many rebounds a game. He is clearly a floor leader, and he produces every game, against all opponents.
As far as his statistical merits, I am not sure of all of them. But he has been well respected as the top player or one of the top players in the region since his freshmen year when he had 50+ points in a regional tourney game.
I think, and many think, that he is the best player in the region.
I certainly am not putting any of the other players down. There are many good ones. I wish them all the best of luck, and I hope they all go somewhere and get their education paid for -- if there is anything I can do to help them get there, I would be glad to. We don't have much in EKY, but one thing we do have is basketball, and each other.

IMO Lyle Johnson has played just as good as any other player in the region. He should be mentioned on here, I think he had 29 against the Al Mighty Paintsville team.

Yeah but all he had was 3'pointers. Theres more to the game than making 3's all night.

i just dont see how you can put landon slone at the top of the region, i mean yeah hes a good player, but i still think he has been overrated since he has been a freshman IMO. He scored 56 one game and thats all he has done that has been so amazing. I mean hes put up good stats but you all put em out to be some all star when hes not.

Cool, we disagree on this one. We will see how it all turns out in a couple years when the players move on. Good luck to the players you believe are the best.

Like the Govenor said....there is so much to his game!!! Others would be hard-pressed to be the complete player he has become. And still has a year and a half left.
Ask yourself this.....Why would Donovan want gametapes of Slone from his freshman year to present, so he can see all these little things and how he has progressed if he wasn't at least ome of if not top player in the region?
I have always thought he was a good player....world beater..no....good player ...yes. but this year.... He would definately be my top pick.

Slone scored 52 pts as a freshman in the reg tourney. Todd Tackett and Keith Adkins share the single game scoring record at P-ville with 56 pts in a game.

Landon Slone Has 24 to 30 points a game. 7 to 12 rebounds a game numerous floor burns (most people on here will know what i am talking about when i say floor burns probably not you tho), he will have 4 to 6 assist, 1 or 2 blocks a game, and when a team has a standout player he plays defense on that player. He plays 32 minutes a game and never sits. So thats why he is the best player in the region.

Well, again, I wasn't dreaming, I was just simply giving my opinion, and some would suggest I was giving pure fact.
Thanks though, I do need a good dream psychologist. Have a good day.

If Van plays like he did at the all A for the rest of the year he is one of the top.
01-29-2007, 07:13 PM
Paintsville:
Van could be one if he was more consistant in his play.
Landon has to be considered as one of the top players.
Vanhoose, he just needs to pick up his inside game some.
Allen Central:
Josh Martin should be considered but I have only seen him play one game.
P-burg:
That Hall boy that shoots the 3's would be considered if he was more careful on his shot selection and got a streak going in games instead of shots
Johnson Central:
Jamie McCarty, enough said.
Phelps:
I like Gannon and Hunt pretty good for their size.
Pikeville:
Harmon, the kid plays with more heart than anyone I have seen play this year.
Adams, I am sure I am going to be questioned about this one. But his presence under the goal changes a lot of teams game plan.
South Floyd:
Eathan Johnson isn't living up to what I expected, but I heard he has a bad wheel so I will give him the benefit of doubt.
Lyle Johnson can shoot the ball, that is enough for some people. I think he needs to work on defense more.
Belfry:
Brandon Case is the only player on Belfry's squad that could even be considered.
I know I left some out, but I will put them on at a later date.
