Do you have to be a member to play at most golf courses around the area? How much does it cost?

What area are you asking about?

In the Ashland/Flatwoods/Russell area the only private course is Bellefonte Country club and it's not that spectacular anyways.
#7
i play mostly at the courses in richmond and lexington but my favorite course in kentucky is persimmon ridge
#8
I just started golfing last summer and I've only golfed at Paul Hunt Thomson Golf Course in Allen. Not good enough to goto Stone Crest yet, lol.

Stonecrest is OK, but it's not what it should be compared to the money they spent on it, $27 million:eek: It should be Augusta National with that kind of money. How did Greg Stumbo pull that one off??? You could have built 5 outstanding 18 hole mountain courses for the price that was spent on Stonecrest.

Which one? There's 5 courses in Madison County: Gibson Bay, Madison Country Club, Arlington (EKU's course), Berea Country Club, and The Battlefield.

Gibson Bay is the only one i played at.

I play at Green Meadows Country Club its a nice 9 hole golf course and i think it costs $20 to play9 holes with a cart. I like to play at Gibson Bay in Richmond that has to be one of the nicest golf courses in the state.

Alright I will bite. Any mediocre to decent golfers in the Richmond area that would want to play on the weekend just give me a shout. I would like to travel to some different courses in the state and see what they are like compared to my home courses.

The Estill County Golf Club is a nice 9 hole course just 18-20 miles from Richmond. It has cart rentals available and is in great shape. It is about $15 to $20 to play including cart rental. They also have a great tourney the 4th of July weekend. It is 3 days and is medal play in the championship flight but match play in flights 1 thru 7. Last year, there were 41 to qualify for championship. Huge calcutta on the second and third days! Also, big scramble will kick off tourney on Thursday, July 5th. 40 dollar entry fee for scramble plus calcutta, 120 dollar entry fee for Invitational tourney

Stone Crest is the best course in the 15th Region.

I heard that there is a champioinship club just south of Richmond called Irvine National. This course was formerly known as Estill County Golf Club
#27
Estill is East of Richmond and "Irvine National" will host the Senior Masters sponsored by Cialis this year!
#28
Used to play on team in HS, love Stonecrest, also like Cherry Blossom ok in Gtown.
My all-time fave course would be between Kapalua (hawaii), a course i played in sea pines hilton head, one in san jose puerto rico, or cabo real in los cabos mexico

that user tin cup neers has played at irvine nat.

Southwind in Winchester is a fun course to play. Not that expensive neither. Gibson Bay is a good deal too, but that course is a beast. Especially if you are a hacker like me.
