Best mountain players in '07?
#31
Honaker Twins and Harmon from pikeville, the honakers twins can be great
Grimm of course from Johnson Central

Sort of hard to believe that WYMT's 2A Mountain Player of the year has only garnered one mention thusfar.

Dustin May, RB/LB for Belfry IMO will definately be the best defensive player in the mountains next year, and also one of the most dominant runners. may has rushed for back to back 1000+ yard seasons.

1. Grim- JC, Best player in the mountains last season. Best player in 2007.

2. Cole- Somerset, Biggest gamechanger in mountains. Best receiver to come out of East KY since Gerad Parker.

3. May- Belfry, simply dominant on both sides of the ball.

4. Harmon- Pikeville, Only going to be a Junior... capable of having a season like Grimm had in 06.

5. Cashen- Corbin, The best QB in the mountains.

6. Dials- Sheldon Clark, Most overlooked RB in the mountains.

7. Lewis- Clay County, Will put up ungodly numbers again at QB.

8. Hickman- Belfry, Quite possibly the best defensive player in East KY... averaged over 10 tackles a game and was never shut down last season at DT.

9. Christopher- Bell County, RB that has put up solid numbers since starting as a freshman

10. Either Honaker- Pikeville, Solid players on both sides of the ball with great size and speed.

Grimm probably has to be at the Top.

No. He is a senior. I think he has offers from Morehead in football.
#36
I would watch B.case and B.blair from Betsy Layne
#37
1)Zack Lewis QB- Clay Co.
2)Shawn Grimm RB- Johnson Central
3)Daniel Harmon RB- Pikeville
4)Clint Cashen QB- Corbin
5)Tim Honaker QB/RB- Pikeville

If some kids step up and catch the ball at Prestonsburg then Bobby Hughes can become one of the best quarterbacks in the mountains.
#38
Adam White is another SWHS Warrior that will make noise around the mountains and elsewhere. A junior to be. He played varsity last year and contributed alot. Made big plays against top notch teams. Can play all skill positions and play well.
#39
Setser and Craynon from Prestonsburg, Grimm from Johnson Central, Tim Honaker, Harmon, and Jackson from Pikeville, and Dustin May from Belfry..he is a powerhouse

First mention of Joe Roskopf of Lynn Camp rushed for over 2,000 yards last season. Clint Cashen of Corbin, John Cole, Zech Lewis. TR Christopher should be mentioned if he used right this year.

Roshkopf was the best back in the Mountains last year, in my opinion. The best one I saw at least.

He was definately one of the best, kinda hard to pick anyone over Grimm from JC though after the season he had.
#49
I never saw Grim play, just on Sports Overtime. Seems like he had a lot of long TD runs. I think if Roshkopf would have played at JC, we would be talking about him the same way they are Grim. Or a bunch more backs for that matter. They were on their game this year. The line that is.
#50
Zach Lewis from Clay Co., should be good, lost a lot on his line though. Dakota Brock from LCC should be a good one to watch as well. Does anyone know the name of LCA's RB....I heard he was 5'6" and 215 lbs. But squatting 495, benching 355, and pow. cleaning 275. If this is true hes about to be a terror on the field next season.
#51
Ricky Bowling at South Laurel

done well in coach irwin's system as a freshman but didnt produce quite the numbers during his sophomore year under coach chappell. in my opinion he is one of the most underated quarterbacks in the mountains. i would take him ahead of lewis from claycounty but cashen is still the top QB in the mountains.
#52
I'll be putting my money on Dials from Johnson Central to drop some jaws this season. I saw JC's highlight tape from last season and this kid is a war daddy. I'll be more than surprised if he doesn't go D-1. He is definitely the best defensive player in the mountains.
#53
Hunter Adams- Middlesboro WR-DB Junior
Andrew Jones- Middlesboro O-line D-Line Senior

Some probably wished he wasn't, but he will bring it I'm sure!!

The Honakers IMO will have good seasons because of their defensive play. They with Harmon should have GOOD not great seasons on offense. The line from last year was better than this years will be and i dont think Harmon or the Honakers will be able to get big enough holes. This is taking nothing away from them, but without holes to start a run you can have all the speed and agility in the world and still not go anywhere.
