Corey Robinson from Lone Oak- Mr. Football?
#1
I think tonights game against Warren East locked up Mr. Football for Corey Robinson of Lone Oak. He now has 90 touchdowns for the season. Agree or not?
#2
I totally agree. If you're setting national records against any competition AND sending your team to the state championship, you have to get considerable recognition and the honor.

NO DOUBT..MR. FOOTBALL! If they would have lost last night, then I say no. But this guy is proving stats and play against the best competition that he can possibly face! I SAY YES.>NO DOUBT!
#4
You almost have to give it to this kid because what he has done statistically and where he has led his team this far.
#5
I thought it was between him and the Fields kid from Frankfort. He has already signed with Kentucky and that usually helps when they count the votes but the way they got beat last night probably locked it up for Robinson.
#6
Corey Robinson should get it.
#7
Yea Corey has the stats,,,,,,,,,but history shows that who ever gets it will go to Louisville next year so if Corey wins it look for Louisville to offer him something. Just looking at recent patterns in the Mr Football.

If he doesn't get it then it's all a political joke. Go to WPDSD 6 and watch him on the web cast of that game last night, he is somthing. I watched in person, what a game, won on last second field goal. Robbinson ran the first score in and may have scored a second with his legs,I can't recall for sure
#11
Hands down. If he don't win then this award is a joke. With those stats PLUS leadin his team to the state championship I don't see how you can overlook him.
#12
I'll be the odd one out. No, I don't think he should get it. I watched the game on webcast the other night. His stats are impressive but he seems to be more of a product of the system much like Tim Couch was in the Hal Mumme days.

To me Guy and Boyd are both better football players. Stats don't always tell the whole story.

???? Tim Couch woulda been a **** of an NFL QB if he woulda went somewhere other than the Browns. It ain't his fault he had recievers who couldn't catch those bulletts he was throwin. Not only that he had to run for his life every game.

Guy and Boyd are both great players but how do you overlook this guy when he has led his team (who has no football tradition at all) to the state championship. You are right, numbers don't always mean everything, but in this case I gotta say it does. I do however respect your opinion.

To me it is a four horse race, with two of those horses making statements in the playoffs.

1. Will Stein, QB Trinity- Great stats against the very best competition
2. Corey Robinson, QB Lone Oak- Amazing stats, competition questionable, but has a chance to move into the #1 spot wiht a strong performance vs. LexCath.

3. EJ Fields, ATH Frankfort- Best pure athlete in the state, great numebrs, team ahd great season, UK commit never hurts chances
4. John Cole, WR Somerset- Another national record breaker, phenominal career, D-1 committ

Other names in the mix:

Winston Guy, ATH LexCath- UK committ, highly rated prospect, has ahd numerous game changing performances

Aaron Boyd, WR Henry Clay- Major D-1 reruit, has well known bloodlines, nice stats for a receiver

Cory Farris, RB Boone County- State's top rusher statistically, led Boone to 6A Semi's, got shut down by Trinity

Dustin May, RB Belfry- Believe it or not the kid is on the short lists for Mr. Football, quite possibly the best two way player in the state.

Clay Cecil, QB Highlands- Excellent season for leader of one of state's top teams, has beat teams with his arm and feet

IMO, it is between those top four with Stein and Robinson as the clear front-runners, if Robinson plays well and/or beats LexCath then the kid deserves the award hands down.

IMO, he is the best player in the state of Kentucky. And one of the best (statistically) in the nation. So he should get this prestigous award.

I liked Couch alot. But his number were inflated due to the Mumme offense. I also agree he would have had a better carreer in the NFL had the Browns not destroyed him.

So you fault a kid who excells in a system, THAT WORKS? No, you commend him for playing the system to perfection! COREY ROBINSON..2007 KY MR. FOOTBALL!
#20
He's led his team to the state championship from a team that was 5-5 last year. And he has 90 touchdown passes. IN ONE YEAR!! 90!! I dont care what system he plays in, when you throw that many touchdowns in one year, there shouldnt even be a thread on who should get Mr. Football..

I don't fault him for anything. But I did watch him play the other night and was not overly impressed. There are more talented football players in Kentucky. Mr. Football should go to the best player. Its just my opinion but I don't think he is the best football player in the state.
#23
C'mon now, I mean lets honestly look at it. With 90 TD passes, how could he not get Mr. Football? Put my vote right there with Robinson.
#24
I think he will win Mr. Football. He has put up some pretty inpressive numbers. And he has broken some national records. So yea, I think he should win it!
#25
With the national record and the stats the kid put up this year it would tarnish the award if he doesn't win it. I mean what do you have to do to win it.

One very important thing you guys are forgetting. Who votes for Mr. Football? The same guys who put out the AP rankings every week that we all make fun of. Most of these voters have probably never heard of this kid until recently. He may well deserve to win Mr. Football. Getting the votes from the AP guys in the golden triangle will be a task. Unless the AP guys read sights like this they won't even know his name. Keep in mind those voters care about there own area of responsibility first. If you don't believe me call one of them on the phone and ask them. Now I do feel with breaking a national record they just may know who he is now. One month ago he was just another player. Good luck to the young man. I for one would love to see someone get it outside the golden triangle.
#27
I dont see him winning Mr. Football it will be a kid from a bigger school who is more well known school.
