So, I woke up at 6:30 am this morning after going to bed early. When I got up I was disappointed because there was no snow, just wet ground from rain.
I looked at the radar and it showed no precipitation nearby. I thought for sure we'd missed out on the snow.
So at 7:10 am I take the dog outside and to my surprise it was snowing! In 40 minutes the temperature dropped 2 degrees and looks like it's going to drop a few more degrees throughout the day.
It's really coming down good outside and in just about half an hour the cars and grass were already getting covered.
Here are some pictures I took this morning.

Send it this way! I want school to be out!
12-16-2007, 09:06 AM
I doubt anybody will get enough for school to be out, unless you're in No. KY.
Your best chance is for any water or rain to ice over.

WKYT just stated that 1-2 inches is expected in Central KY and around an inch or so in E. KY with the snow falling later tonight for E. KY.
The biggest things looks to be icing, as the temps will keep falling into the 20's.

KEEP ME UPDATED!
12-16-2007, 10:04 AM
Just went out to drive around and see how things were. It's currently flurrying here in Richmond, with very strong winds. I got out to pump some gas and it cut right through me. Very cold, I believe the wind chill is 18 degrees
The salt trucks and salt scrapers are out, but the roads were fine. None of the standing water has frozen yet, but I expect it to tonight.

The radar just blew up with precip. out of nowhere. Looks like some good mix followed by snow heading towards E. KY.

According to WKYT and WYMT the bulk of the snow should come soon and they are still expecting 1-2 inches by morning. Chris Bailey said the kids in East KY will be happy come morning.

Chris Bailey blew this one big time. Even once he seen that most of the precip was gone, he still called for 1-3 inches. Didn't even come close.
12-17-2007, 10:28 AM
Yeah, I agree... I sorta was disappointed in him. Not for missing the initial call... because it happens. I missed it WAY worse than he did... but, once the precip had left even ohio he was showing less than a inch for central and 1-2 for for the Ashland area.

Like I said in a previous thread when CE asked why CB was saying 2-4 inches and I said maybe 1-2, CB seems to be biased towards snow. He makes himself believe it's going to snow, even when everyone else says it won't. He absolutely dogged the NWS in Jackson because they were "downplaying" the snowstorm. When the time came, they were right and he was wrong. It's obvious they know something that he doesn't. Sad thing is this happens every year with him.
