Paintsville Tigers '08
#1
How do you think Coach Kinner and his Tigers will do next season.
#2
Well I think Paintsville is going to struggle this year worse than they did last year. They are just lacking depth at the skill positions. They aren't going to have QB or a RB again this year. I think Kinner might take his lumps for a few years but evenutually he will develop a good Tiger team in a few years.

NO running back. we will have patrick butcher, nehimia doderer, couple freshmen who i look forward to watchign play. Then for the qb spot wthey will have corey adams or brett rynalds. So they will have a decent back feild and they still will have a couple good wide outs. So they should be ok. They arnt going to be a team who competes in the state champ. game but they will hold there own.

I really wouldn't call that a very good backfield. They are lacking a guy that they can give it to 25+ times per game. It will be very young and filled with people who haven't really played at the HS level. Isn't Doderer going up the creek about 15 miles?

No Doderer is staying at Paintsville. And how is that not a good backfeild they are of the 2 fastest backs up and down the river. And Coach Kinner will use the speed of these two alot better than you have seen the past 2 seasons.

Did they get this sudden burst of speed after the season or was it the same speed as last season? Because unless they gained something I don't know about they will have the same speed as last year. So I think it is a little pre-mature to say they are a good backfield. Having Doderer back will help their cause but that comes with more than 12 carries per game. Also you have to take into consideration the line play. They lost basically their whole line last year. So it will be how they adapt to the new blocking schemes and how the new backfield comes together over the course of this summer. But they have some potential to be a decent backfield.

Well, I look forward to watching them play. I'm anxious to see who will come out. I'm not gonna speculate, I'm gonna support and hope for the best. I hope the boys listen and do as they are told. I hope some nay-sayers will have a lollipop or "dillybar"and relax....
Good Luck Tigers it's your baby to rock now!

Any idea on what type of offense or defense the Tigers will try to run this year?

Also any word on who the other coaches are going to be next year?

Offense, hard tellin. Jimmy Daniels likes to throw the ball so you may see the Tigers try to do that. BUT then again, we don't if Jason will let him have total control of the offense, Jason may have the final say in what plays are run.

Defense I'm gonna guess a base 4-3.

I don't think they have the players to run either of those schemes. As far as them being heavy passing team you need to have an offensive line that can keep the D off of the QB. Also you need a QB that can complete around 60 to 65% of his passes on any given night or else you are going to be going 3 and out the majority of your night. Thirdly you need some WR's who can get off the line and stretch the field with speed and pretty much the only speed they return will be Butcher and Doderer but I would assume they will be getting the bulk of the carries. So with a new line and a new QB this will be a hard offense to run with a high rate of efficiency. On the other side of the ball I think they will end up running a 5-2 monster. Because to run a 4-3 you need four D-Lineman that are pure "STUDS" because otherwise you will be getting pounded by the run.

Everybody said the same thing my senior year after losin 4 offensive linemen from the year before (2001 Region Champs team). We started 2 freshmen, 2 juniors who had no experience and a senior who got alot of playin time as a junior but was injured most of the year. Me and Justin Arms were the only recievers, Junior Shane Simpkins played QB for the first time since middle school. We passed the ball pretty darn good, we couldn't run the ball to save our lives. Our FB Kyle Murphy was our leadin rusher and he finished the year with barely over 500 yards. But enough about that. You are right, they need a QB that CAN pass effectively, Shane was just an amazin athlete who could do anything. They will need some recievers with some speed, which they have Tyler Deaton back who has the speed but his hands sometimes don't come thru, lol. Butcher could play WR, Jake Cyrus is comin back out, he has good speed and good hands. Cody Reynolds would make a good TE and his brother Brett would also if he don't play QB. As for the defense, you're right. IDK what they are gonna run, the 4-3 was just a guess. I agree about the 5-2 cause they aren't gonna face very many teams that pass the ball. I just know the 4-3 is what Kinner ran in high school and alot in college and Coach Ward was the LB coach when I played and we ran the 4-3. We also had one of the best defensive lineman to come out of this area in Ryan Brown, he was a one man wreckin crew that forced opposin offenses to double and triple team him freein up other DL and LB's, but let's face it, Paintsville has nobody like that, lol. IDK what's gonna happen or what they are gonna run, we'll just have to wait and who all comes out to play and at what positions.

Well you will have to admit your team had a little more talent than the tigers of this year. You all had a pretty good team.

Should know in a couple months what they will be running. I assume they are going to have spring practice this year. This will be a good chance for Jason to get some new kids out and let them know that things are going to be run a little different.

Corey Adams is coming back out, he was a pretty good QB when he played.

So are you saying Williams isn't a good coach?

That wouldn't be too difficult considering the coaches went in order David Lemaster, Bill Mike Runyon and then Allen. Coach Runyon was a good coach and got a lot out of the players, but he had a LOT of talent to work with. I think Kinner might take a few bumps along the way, but if given time he will have the Tigers being contenders for a Regional crown in a few seasons. I wish the Tigers nothing but the best and hope that they can return to the success they had when I played there.

Lemaster would be the best coach of the past three. Runyon had a good record but look who he had to work with. Plus he inherited a team that had been working all winter and summer long. I think Kinner in time will be a very good coach if he can get the kids to come out and play. Also his success depends on the middle school program developing these kids for when they come to high school.

Agreed, after the first season Lemaster had a steady record of over .500 with his best seasons coming in 1998 and 2001's regional championship team. It all starts with the feeder systems (i.e. elementary and middle school)...that's why Belfry and others are good teams when they get to the high school level, they've been in the same system for several years and it's like a second nature. I have heard the numbers are up as compared to years past....Kinner will do a fine job, everyone just needs to be patient.

They will struggle but should be ok in the end.

I dont know thier whole schedule but I know they have lcc the first game.

I think Paintsville lost to many Seniors to be able to bring the Freshman in to take their place. They will need a few years to rebuild. Look for some upsets for Paintsville.
