Next Coach at Pikeville High School
#1
Stay on topic, and only discuss who the next coach will be.

Only post information you have that is relevant to the title - who the next coach will be at Pikeville.

Anymore bickering about who is better or whining that Pikeville will go to **** if Copley isn't hired and this thread will be closed and all discussion of the matter banned until a decision has been reached.

WYMT was wrong and ran a retraction Friday night after WDHR and East KY Broadcasting sports quoted the principal as saying the interview process continues with an interview still scheduled for next week and that NO offer has been made.

If I'm not mistaken, he is from the same area as Pikeville's AD, which is the Harlan/Caewood area.

That's interesting, I guess there will have to be an opening for her also. I wonder what she teaches?

They interviewed Copely today (3-3-08). Id say well hear something this week.

I am sure the school admn will make the right decision based on what is right for the team and program. I think that the players, school and community will support what ever they decide and Pikeville will continue the tradition that has made the football program a success. I say support the decision and work toward building the program and look forward with anticipation of a New Era of great Panther Football!!
#13
I think the committee will hire the best man for the job. Pikeville has always made good decisions with their athletic programs.
#14
I don't consider Mike Jackson a good decision.
#15
I don't know, Jackson did OK. He lost John Michael Mayo his second year, which really hurt their chances of making any noise. Last year they just never had a QB to step up. Ballard will be a better fit for him and his family.

I remember reading something on another thread about this Hensley guy only staying at schools for like 2-3 years. That is supposedly what Pikeville is looking to get away from isn't it? Also why is it that there are people on the committee that are more concerned with themselves then they are with the kids and the school? What is Pikeville going to do if their girls get beat this week and spring practice starts next week without a coach? I know deep down who deserves this job, just make the choice already.
#17
I would say a decision will be reached by Monday.

What kind of offense does this Hensley guy run?

From what I've seen and read he doesn't like to stay in one spot too long.
What do you mean by the committee members being more concerned with themselves than the school?

I am hoping that Hensley gets the nod.

However, I am willing to support whoever is hired.

Are the Copley supporters willing to support Hensley if he is hired?
#21
I think the community will always support Pikeville Football. There's just some people that only support who will benefit them directly and don't look at the overall picture. Some of them are the decision makers, unfortunately.

Ive said all along that no matter who is hired Ill support them 100%. My loyalties arent to Copley. They are to this program and what is best for it. I happen to think that Copely is the best man for the job and Im entitled to that opinion. I hope that the ones who want Hensley in there do so for the same reason and not just so it would "tick off the Copely supporters" as some have implied on here. Cause at the end of the day were all Panthers. We all bleed Maroon, and we all want the same thing: A STATE TITLE! At least thats what our goal as a community should be.
#23
Copley is the man for the job....he knows the kids and is a great guy....all the players like him and want him as the coach
#24
I am hearing that they are wanting to reopen the job.

I don't think the committee would do that, with it being this close to spring ball.

The main goal of the community should be to get a coach who is going to prepare these kids for life and turn them into men. Jackson didn't win any state titles at Pikeville but I wonder how many kids he impacted in a positive way during his 3 years. I could say the same thing for McNamee and Chapman. If you do things the right way long enough, the state titles will come. Phillip Haywood is the best example I can think of. What if they would have got rid of him after 4 years of not winning a state title? Don't get me wrong state title's are great, but is this all we want out of coaches?

Spring football practice will not make or break the Pikeville Football program.

Has anyone personally talked to Copley about being an assistant if he didn't get the HC?
#29
Uncle Jesse Wrote:I am hearing that they are wanting to reopen the job.

I have heard the same thing. I have heard that their is one man that is holding the whole thing up. It also strikes me as odd that Pikeville would even consider a guy for the job that has a record for not being in the same place for very long. That is unless he had a good friend from back home on the committee.

fbcoachnoitall Wrote:Has anyone personally talked to Copley about being an assistant if he didn't get the HC?

If I were Copley it would be like a slap in the face if I wasn't hired as the HC and I personally wouldn't stick around knowing that everything I had been doing and was doing was going unnoticed. Of course if the other candidate gets the job then Copley could always reapply in 2-3 years when that guy leaves.
