How long until this game is over?

Should be an exciting game with two very talented teams taking the field. In the end I think that Alcoa will be too much for Bell County. Game can be compared to the '07 Lexington Catholic game at Log Mountain, IMO. LexCath was just too athletic for Bell then and the same can be said here as well with Alcoa.
I'll take Alcoa by 2 touchdowns... prove me wrong Bobcats!

I agree wholeheartedly with this post. I got the privilege to watch that '07 Bell County/Lexington Catholic game. Winston Guy and a few others were simply too athletic and quick for Bell County. I also really think the final score to this game will be very similar to that game.

Bobcats are like a different team than the 07 squad. This 09 squad has LOTS MORE SPEED!! If no one has heard of Cory Davenport by the time the first 2 games are over with this season you will know exactly who he is. A sophmore who runs a 4.43 40 with killer speed. Once hes on the outside or threw the line of scrimmage he is gone!!!

I understand this new Bell County team is a totally different team than the '07 Bobcats. I think I can speak for BCA when I say that we are just comparing that '07 match-up with Lex Cath with this match-up we have here with Alcoa.
As for Cory Davenport, I know how good the kid is. I don't have him in my Mountain top ten players just yet, but I believe he may be by the end of the season. The kid is extremely versatile and can run like the dickens. I talked to a guy the other day that seen him first hand this summer when he was in the Pineville area. He had just about the same things to say as you did.

This is what Bell Co's roster looks like:
Freshman 22 (2008 Middle School State Runners-Up)
Sophmore 9
Junior 15
Seniors 6
Total 52 players

Whats sad is Cory started as a Freshman but I think it was maybe the 2nd week of the season he got hurt in a Freshman game that put him out for the year. His older brother Cody started for Bell last year as a Sophmore. Bell is loaded this year with more talent than ever. I look for them to repeat as State Champions. SR Matt Raines also runs a 4.45 forty. Matt is a freak athlete and should get Div 1 looks.

Raines is the number two player in the Mountains behind Channing Fugate in my book.

I agree 100%. Raines is the most talented player in the state that nobody has heard of. Not knocking the LHL top 50 but Raines should be there.

Another thing that I think will play a big role for us this year is our d-line. We lost 3 of our top 4 from last year but we have Billy Lawson back. Cody Marcum will move over on the defensive line this year too. He's going to shine on defense. We lost probably the best d-line in the state from last year but we have two studs to build with on the line this year. A couple more have to step up and I think they will. It may be a game or two before they begin to develop but they'll be fine.

Lets not forget about Keith Lowe.

Looks like he will playing both ways this year.

Justin patterson looks very good on the d-line, and might not come off the field at all in some games. (My opinon)

Taylor Mills will be Taylor, and that will be bad for the other teams.
08-17-2009, 11:51 AM
He is a very hard hitter!

I was talking about the down 4. Keith is a good end. Does a great job. And, Taylor Mills is very solid at the other end.

I've heard a lot of good things about Justin.

So I think it should be a great game I pick Bell 28 Alcoa 21

Sorry!! I am excited about the talent we have, No one thinks that we can beat Alcoa because of there talent. I just thought I would throw some names in.

I like to mention the names too. The defense is solid. The one question mark was the line. Hate we lost Carton. I hate for him just as much. I was hoping he came out ready to go this year.

I think it's going to be much closer than what some may think. If we can move the ball and keep the clock moving it could be very interesting at the end. And, we can't give up the big plays.
And, EKU ALUM brought up the fact that this is a tough game to start your first game at QB. I couldn't agree more. I hope Madon can in hang in there and keep his composure. He's going to be fine as the season goes but you're asking a lot of him or any other kid when you put them in that position.
I think the kicking game from last year is another HUGE factor. Big advantage when your kicker can kick the ball through the end zone. Starting a team out at the 20 in high school football is such an advantage. We'll miss that for sure.
08-17-2009, 01:31 PM
I agree we will most definetly miss Monte. But a new twist on the kicking game this year. QB madon is handling the punting duties. Now, will we kick or will we fake it and pass it, can't wait to find out!!!!

I like bells chances against a real good Alcoa team it is not like bell has not faced tough competition before. Look they have played Highlands right down to the wire on a couple of occasions when talk was they did not even deserve to be on the same field. GO CATS GO!
08-17-2009, 02:13 PM
Marcum started the majority of the games last year on the DL. He will be fine. Bell County will have to play their game and have zero turnovers. Alcoa will turn the ball over and commit numerous penalties. They were 1 of the most penalized teams in TN last year. Bell will have chance in this game to make game changing plays.
No matter the outcome Bell Co. is going to be a good team come November. This is just another step that will help them get were they want to be, Bowling Green in December.

I think we will be fine with what we got his temper would of hurt the team more then his skills helping.
