Black panther in Lexington?
#1
Per WKYT:

http://www.wkyt.com/home/headlines/59570317.html

Rumors have been flying for more than a week that black panther is prowling around the Winburn neighborhood in Lexington. Today police admitted to being overwhelmed and frustrated with all the confused and panicked calls. So we went to the experts to get answers. Officials with the Kentucky Division of Fish and Wildlife say the "panther spotters" are most likely mistaken.

Many large house cats have been mistaken for mountain lions say Wildlife officials. Authorities also think that people could be mistaking a coyote (which can be black) for a panther.

Authorities say the best way to put the panther rumors to rest is to get proof. If someone actually sees the panther they are asked to take a picture or video of it. That evidence can then be analyzed, and the truth about the panther can finally be told.

So there you go Lexington residents. Just track down the panther, snap a few photos of it, and when they find your dead, half-eaten body, at least you'll have proof!

Seen this last night on WKYT.com.

The chances of it being a black panther are .000000000000000001. They probably seen a large house cat, because I've seen some pretty big house cats. But if it really is a black panther its just one someone had as a pet and its escaped. I know someone in Floyd County had a Tiger but had to get rid of it do to so many complaints.

Too bad black mountain lions don't exist. I've seen 3 mountain lions growing up riding dirt bikes in the mountains of Pike Co. but never anything black except bears. I've also seen Black jaguar's in Arizona that I thought were mountain lions at first...but black panthers don't exist.

I saw a black colored panther in Magoffin County 20 years ago. As for it being a "big housecat", I've never saw a close to 75- 100 lb. housecat. I never told anybody for years that my wife and I saw this or where we saw it. About 5 years after we saw it, I named it to a friend of mine that worked a coal mine near there, and he said they saw it all the time up in the strip area.

But, big, black, wild, 75-100 lb. cats do exist. I've saw one.
