I have a lot of recent first hand experience job hunting and I have done quite a bit of traveling the past two months. The only area that I have visited recently where the local economy was not visibly suffering from Obamanomics is the DC metro area, which is where I now work.
The explosive growth of the federal government under the Obama regime has made areas like the DC suburbs recession-proof...for now.
