I'll stay out of the apple bowl discussion. The biggest problem is a complete and total lack of fundamentals taught to the players. Talent wise Paintsville is just fine. Size wise they are just fine **** our O-Line is huge. So where does that leave you. If you have talented backs, receivers, and linemen that have the size and strength to block very well then it obviously isn't the players fault. IMO and I cant stress enough that it is just my opinion, a good line coach would do wonders for this team. If Caldwell got blocking he could be a great quarterback. He has the mechanics, the ability, and the receivers, but he can't do anything when the defense is in the backfield 1 second after the ball is snapped. Then that would open up the running game and we would be a good class-A team. But without blocking any team with a D-Line that isn't flat out awful is gonna kill us and our QB will not make it halfway through the season. Paintsville has always had good backs, for the last 5 years we have had a steady stable of very fast backs. Just no one to block for them. Then actually teach the boys proper tackling, and you would be surprised what they would do. Im not saying they would be able to beat LC, Or P-Burg, but they would be able to more than hold their own in Class-A ball. That IMO is the problem with this team.

I can promise you that this team is taught fundamentals EVERYDAY, it's all we do. We pound it in their heads everyday. Why are we still having to do this during week 3 of the regular season? Because we get in the games and forget everything that's been taught. Gamefilm don't lie. As for the Oline coaches, they do a great job. My Oline coach in college taught the same stuff our coaches are teachin these boys. They do good in practice against eachother, but come game time its back to the ole "Flipper" that has been taught since the 1950's, which doesn't cut it these days. Don't you worry about this Oline, their gonna come around, alot sooner than you and alot of others think. After the practice they have been thru the last two days, I'd make dang sure I play this week like the two previous weeks. Same thing goes for tackling. They are taught how to tackle properly, and they are also taught persuit angles. Once again, come game time, it's like they forget everything they have been taught.
