Dont make it sound like dropping 71 on Evarts was so bad. The final score of that game was 71-40. That is nothing like this. That was a 31 point spread. Of course, looking back this isnt the worst beat down in recent mountain history, I remember a few years back when PBurg dropped 80+ on Betsy Layne and held them to 0.

Then where's the line, Badman? Scoring 71 is ok if your defense sucks? This isn't much different because what was done was in 3 quarters plus a play, and in 27 offensive snaps. That isn't even a good practice.

My point is this - no one gets ticked until their team gets clocked. I felt like that when I saw teams I like get drilled - until I stepped back and realized there's not much that can be done when the talent disparity is that great.

I personally would have preferred LC not score 75 on Valley, but I would also have preferred Valley not beat Knott 66-0... or Betsy Layne or Jenkins or Phelps or whatever other teams not get clocked like they have over and over.

But Coach Salmons had a clear reason for coaching the game the way he did and that is to make his team better, and that is all he is responsible for - the same way Coach Runyon was with the Tigers in '05 when Paintsville averaged a 51 to 19 blowout in their 10 wins.

If you are okay with that margin or 71-40 over Evarts or whatever, but not this one it is simply because you have an arbitrary sense of appropriate margins or totals in your head that have nothing to do with actual circumstances or facts of the game.

Interestingly, I haven't seen many SV fans on here moaning. Maybe, just maybe they concede that it could have been WAY worse than it was.
