I was thinking of something last night when I was watching an old WWII show and it had alot of old Germans talking on there..I would like to meet one of them, and see what their view was of Hitler and their Army and all of that.

I talked to one, only for like 5 minutes. He was on the Russian front and injured at the beginning of Stalingrad, then moved after he healed and fought us, which he said they usually didn't do. Only question I was able to ask was what he thought of the German military as a whole during the war. And he said even towards the end when they were getting pushed back, they were still kicking our ***** alot. I kind of thought about that for a second because my great uncle was killed in 1944 by Germans, executed when his squad of Scouts were captured. Just weird to think that that guy was killing people like him and I never got to meet him. Anyway, he said something like this, "You know what you lads think of your military these days? That's how we thought."

From watching stuff about it you can tell that they had to think they were unstoppable. Heck every army has to think that or you're not going to get very far. But I just didn't expect him to say that because we pretty much have no country that could take us on head to head, and Nazi Germany had us and Britain to worry about.

I know some of you will disagree with that and say China or Russia. China's huge plus is there size, but think about moving that many, actually enough to deal a pretty big dent in us. It's called logistics, and it would be near-impossible. I'll give it to ya on Russia, I know alot about their military and worked with some Russian contractors and alot of them are vets, for every piece of equipment we have they pretty much have the same in a Russian version, except Air Force.

But, I still wouldn't have thought that the Germans would have thought like that. He said they would joke around and BS just like we do about small or "easy" countries like Iraq and Afghan and then big guys like China and Russia. Just surprised the **** out of me. I kind of didn't want to ask him about Hitler, lol. I wish I would get that chance again.
