In the past I always got my oil changed at the Wal Mart in Pikeville while I got groceries. One Saturday morning I dropped my truck off at the service center and proceeded to shop when I was called to the automotive service center over the p.a. system. When I got there, an employee asked me who changed my oil last? I informed him that Wal Mart (Pikeville) had. He typed up my info on there computer and sure enough, they had changed it 3 months earlier. He told me that whoever had changed it at the store had stripped my oil pan/plug and had put a twirly on it to fix it. They tell me to go get estimates for a new oil pan. Three months later between working and coaching, I hadn't had time to get an estimate. I took my truck back to get my oil changed again, and while I was shopping I got called back to the service center again. They tell me that they can't change my oil because my oil pan is defective. I told them that they were the ones that stripped it and that I would now like money to get my truck fixed plus money for a rental car while they fix it. To make a long story a little less long, they changed my oil that day and after several months they finally gave me money to fix my truck. I never got the money for a rental car though.

This isn't surprising. I have met a person who got their oil changed at Wal-Mart and they got less than a mile down the road when their car died. Turns out the tech hadn't put their oil filter on right and it actually fell off driving down the road and their engine blew up. Luckily, Wal-Mart paid for everything for them, but it's just an indicator of the type of work they do.

As for me, yes, the battery was exchanged, but I'm still roughly $300 down from this fiasco and have yet to hear back from Wal-Mart after trying to contact them about this.
