I don't think he deserves any of the "credit." Remember, Obama didn't say he was born in Kenya, others did. He didn't instigate it. And, the claim was quite silly. To contend that it's his obligation to put an end to it is, in my opinion, silly. Anyway, he produced a valid birth certificate in 2008. The fact that some still didn't accept it doesn't, again, make it his responsibility to counter it.

If someone contends that Obama had an obligation to produce further proof to squelch a merit less conspiracy theory, isn't he or she demonstrating that he or she still gave at least some credence to the conspiracy theory?

Does he still need to prove somehow that he isn't a Muslim? Some people are still claiming he is.

The President of the United States is required to be 35 years old and a natural born citizen. Asking Barack Obama to make his birth certificate available to the public was never an unreasonable request. Neither is asking for the release of his college transcripts. American voters should have been given access to that information during the 2008 campaign but Mr. Transparency and his fans believed that his qualifications were irrelevant for the position that he sought.

To his credit, even John Kerry eventually disclosed his college transcripts and SAT scores. Kerry did so despite the fact that they showed that George W. Bush had both a higher GPA and a higher composite SAT score than he did.

As for the Muslim question, Obama's actions speak for themselves. He uses religion as a means to a political end. Muslims have as good a claim to Obama as any other religion. What matters to me is not his religion but the fact that he is a socialist to the core.
