[Stardust]

I know Stardust loves it, but I don't know the specs of his time there. Maybe he can tell us.

I go every year, planning on my September trip as we speak. I'm there for a week and absolutely love it. I Don't gamble, well, if you consider spending no more than $100 gambling. I'll bet a football game to make it fun (usually against the Bengals, though last year they won me some money betting them to win) and my wife will play slots.

We will hit 4-5 shows during our time out there and eat ourselves silly. As for the cost, it can get expensive if you don't know what you are doing and unwilling to look for deals. I admit, the travel and hotel room is mostly paid for since I go for a conference, but even that is not that expensive.

Vegas gives you everything. Excellent entertainment, and much of it is inexpensive if you go to the show booths and buy in advance. Food is great and just like the shows, can be purchased by coupons in advance. Short drive to canyons and Hoover Dam. The desert and the mountains is are very accessible.

Batpuff, be sure to hit Pawn Stars right down the street from the Stratosphere. It's not in a great part of town, but interesting none the less. And find time to go the "Bills Gambling Hall" next to Harrahs. Check out Big Elvis's show. It's free, and Peter Vallee is IMO, the best Elvis impersonator I have ever heard. His shows are Monday - Friday starting at 3:00 in the lounge. There is no required bar tab, so enjoy.

Dicks Last Resort in the Excaliber is the BEST one I have ever been too. Get a seat at the bar. They have a live band every night, and getting tormented by bartender is a show all in itself.
