That is a great post, but Ive got news for ya though, you can't help somebody who doesn't want help no matter how hard ya try. They have to want to help theirself, thats all there is to it. I have an older sister who was hooked on drugs for a few years until a little over 15 months ago. She wanted help and help was provided to her. Almost been 16 months sober now. I have a cousin who died back in the winter from a drug overdose. My aunt and uncle tried talkin to him, tried to help him, his brother tried to help him, my sister even tried to help him. She talked to him 2 weeks before his death about gettin him into the same rehab she went to.

I am very happy for you and your sister. Drug or alcohol addiction is serious. But it's not just as simple as saying you have to want to help yourself. Though I can't speak from experience, I do realize that addiction makes one reliant on and idea and a feeling that are not real. It alters one's perception of how things should be, thus that individual can't just freely say I need help until it's usually too late for them. In this case, it was too late for Amy Winehouse. And in many ways, it was not as much Winehouses addiction than the pariahs who lived off of her and pushed the problem onto her versus trying to help her.
