JackRabbitSlim Wrote:I do not know the Creech kid, I have only seen him play? So as far as "hatred" goes, that is just obsurd. However, there is no one, outside of Campton, that thinks he is the best player in eastern kentucky. My opinion is not an isolated one, and it is an objective opinion at that. It may very well be brutal honesty, and you may think that I am wrong for posting that where he can read it, but people can't say something like that about a player, and expect everyone to agree with it? The bottomline, he is not the best player in eastern kentucky. I think he is probably the best player in that district, but I think if Wolfe was still in the 56th district that he would not be the best in that district? There has been a huge hype put on this kid that never should have been. His stats were extremely inflated, and I think if he was as good as advertised then there would be some attempt during the regular season to get him seen? Instead of traveling to Lexington or Louisville during the weekends or spring break, Wolfe County is playing a double header with Cordia at home? Out of 36 games last season this is what the majority looked like.........4 games with Menifee County, 3 games with Cordia, 3 games with Owsley, 3 games with Jackson City, 3 games with Breathitt County, 2 games with Morgan County, 2 games with West Carter, 2 games with Lee County, 2 games with Estill County, and then their remaining schedule looks like this.....Model, Buckhorn, Leslie County, Montgomery, Jenkins, Hazard, PBURG, Perry Central, and Powell County(only because they had too). If he is that good, then why does their schedule look like this? I understand playing your district, but there is not one game on here that would allow him to be seen by anyone? I know that your rebuttal to this will be that he does that in the summer and that is fine, but you have to think about a few things before you start throwing awards at me? If these organizations are getting stats thrown at them like the ones posted for him last season, they are automatically going to throw him on a list no matter what, just because of the slight chance they are legit. I want to see him in the batters box facing a pitcher like Matt Spalding or Ian Thompkins, Chandler Shepherd, and then I will become a believer? Until then I can only go on what I see, and what I have seen from him isn't the best in eastern kentucky and it isn't Division 1. That is strictly my opinion and nothing else, and it may not be what you want to hear, but it's honest. You are entitled to your opinion, but you seem to want to dismiss all the travel ball the kid plays every summer and always jump to Wolfe's schedule to make your point. You can't dismiss travel ball because that's where the competition is and he's gone out and played against that for several years, so he's not dodging anybody at all, he just happens to be at a small school that for years has never taken baseball seriously at all. I have talked to one of his summer coaches who helped coach him for four yrs in Lexington because I wanted an unbiased opinion of him and he said that Creech could flat out hit the baseball and led their team in hitting all four years. I will also tell you that the East Coast Pro Showcase is an invite only from pro scouts and all 30 big league clubs attend that event as well as a ton of D-1 schools. Evidentally some of them liked him there because from what I hear, he got the Area Code invite from someone who saw him at the East Coast Pro. Area Code is invite only as well. So, it looks to me like the kid is doing everything he can to go out and face the best competition around and doing pretty well against it. You do have a right to your opinion and that's fine, but I don't think you should down the kid everytime he accomplishes something just because he plays here at a small school and completely disregard what he does and where he plays every summer. From talking to Coach Creech, the travel ball is where Dylan gets all the attention from. He says that's when College Coaches can really get out and see the kids play. I have seen Dylan play alot of HS games, but have not had the opportunity to see him play in the summer, but to see him hit 6 consecutive HR's, make an out after hitting one out foul and then homer in his next at bat, giving him 7 HR's in 8 at bats was simply amazing. There is no legitamate way to critisize that. Only time will tell how good he will be, but I do know that he is a very talented player and a very fine young man, classy and very respectful and seems to be unfazed by all the attention he gets. Good or bad. I wish him the very best and I believe he will play D-1 ball. That's my opinion.
