Raceland @ Pikeville--Round 2 Class 1A Playoffs
#29
Proud Ram Fan 1168 Wrote:We lost the last game in the last few seconds of the game without our best runningback/D-back (Marcus Reed) He went down with heat problems at the beginning of the second qtr. And never returned. He was beginning to rack up yardage. Then we lost our maybe best receiver/D-back. in the first half and never returned. So I really like our chances. Our team has kids playing in different positions now. And it has our offense exploding. If Pikeville wins this one. They will have to score 40. We have scored I believe about 170 points the last three games. Thats about 57 ppg. Should be a great game. Love the fans at Pikeville. Great host and love football. Love the Stadium and atmosphere. And the tigers leave it all on the field. The RAMS will have to play a great game. I believe they will. RAMS 38--PIKEVILLE 28.

If you're just factoring in last 3 games, yes, nice ppg average that is greatly inflated by the 77 points put up in one game. Raceland has a good team, fans were great, loved the atmosphere of the first game with Pikeville. BUT, looking over the last 5 games of the season (typically when teams really start to gel offensively) give a better look at consistency. Pikeville is averaging 54 ppg over that stretch versus Raceland's 42 ppg.

As I understand it from a friend who went to the Raceland game Friday, they've tweaked their offense a little bit to be a little more run-first than it was earlier in the season. Since Raceland and PHS played, PHS has really developed their offensive depth, now having at least 4 players who can take over a game on their own, along with 2-3 who are capable of breaking out in situational packages.

Having said all of that, I'm looking forward to a really exciting game this Friday between two very evenly matched teams who are similar in personnel. But I think in the end, Pikeville's experience and leadership, along with a defense that is improving weekly, will be the decisive factor. PHS rolls on with a 45-32 win, IMO.
