I am thinking that was Steve Rawlings Senior year so Dan Rawlings had already graduated. Steve's team struggled mightly then got hot at the end of the year and in my opinion of course greatly benefited from Mayfield getting upset in the playoffs. I know alot of the Redhounds from that team. Good group of guys. Back then, being from Mayfield and the schools having split titles in the late 70's, we use to give each other a hard time. Hard to believe Corbin and Mayfield never met for another title game.

Are we talking about the '80 team or the '82 squad? I remember that '80 team of Mayfield's was such a dynamic and fast squad I couldn't believe they didn't make the finals.

I remember both the '80 and '82 Corbin teams had slow starts and then got on a roll at the end of the year. Trivia Fact: Both teams lost to Danville in the regular season when the Ads were still playing up in AAA.

The '80 team was strong like the others from that era. I remember the '82 team had lost to what I thought was the best AA squad that year (Somerset) but benefitted from playing Boyle instead of them after the Rebels upset the bunnies. Boyle had an excellent squad and I remember the Hounds just grinding Boyle down. Converting 3rd and 4th downs consistently and probably held the ball for close to 30 minutes in the 28-15 win. :Thumbs:
