I recall the '86 team being very good and capable of winning it all.

The '81 team was undefeated I think until that loss to Middlesboro. In those days many Districts could have a great team have a bad game and be unable to make the playoffs.
I recall Henry Clay was 10-1 in '78 and ranked high in 4A but lost at the end of the year to another Lex school that had a worse record but was unbeaten in the district.

Same for my Junior season at Boyle when we went 9-1 and yet were not in the playoffs because of a bad night against a 7-4 team.

I recall Corbin was very good in '90 but Ft Knox was a buzz saw in those days and the Hounds lost in the title game.

From '80 to '84 Harlan was 9-1,10-1,9-1 and 6-4. We lost the district all four years to some great Cumberland teams and by some slim margins. Although in '84 we lost 24-3. Two of those years Cumberland lost in the title games. There was some real good football being played on the 1A level in Harlan in those days. What I would have given to have the current playoff system in those days.
