With 2:15 remaining in the game Eastern quarterback Tanner Evans threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Tre Harrison to put the Eagles ahead of Bryan Station 30-27, and they held off the Defenders to advance in the 6-A football playoffs.
The Defenders (7-5) took a 27-23 lead in the fourth quarter following a 71-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Raking Young.
Evans had a solid night to lead the Eagles (10-2) to victory. He finished with 284 yards passing and two touchdown passes. He also ran for a touchdown. Tre Harrison was the leading receiver for Eastern with 171 yards and a touchdown, and Austin Kessler added 57 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The Eagles will play Scott County next week in the regional final.
