I just love how everyone on here keeps saying that williamsburg hasn't played a team as physical as hazard. Were any of you at the oneida and oliver springs games? They are both very physical 2a teams that i am sure hold their own against the likes of mighty hazard. Lets just hope their is enough balls to go around in the game to satisfy all the bulldog egos or they could start to show the attitude they are as famous for as they are being physical. I dont think its the physical aspect that williamsburg hasnt seen this season that hazard will show as much as it is the speed they possess.

Back to the two teams from tennessee that williamsburg played earlier. Everyone on this board thinks if they have not played a classic team tean from the mountains in ky then you have played a soft schedule. Tennessee football is in a league higher than that of ky with the exception of a couple of the elite teams in the north, louisville area, and 1or 2 from the mountains. I think overall the teams are more competitive because the quality of atheletes. Just look at the amount of prospects from ky and tn and compare them. I hate saying this but it is true. Think thats why uk struggles in sec most of the time because The number of instate recruits just is lower and they have to get 2 & 3 tier players from other states over those from our state. This doesnt mean we dont play good competitive football here because we do and kids in the mountains play with tons of passion.

Off my soap box now. Since everyone else is giving opinions on the game i will give mine not gonna pick a winner but give whay i think both teams nee to do to win. For williamsburg, run the football to stretch the field and value the ball. On defense make hazars beat you throwing the ball , do not let both outstanding backs blanton and jones beat you. Pressure whitaker and make him beat you down the field. Their run opens up the passing game. For hazard run run and run it some more. Williamsburg is quick and more physical than most think but the run could wear them down later in the game. In defense they gotta try to confuse sizemore with coverage and contain griffith and shelton on the outside. I think it is important for both teams to score early and put preasure on the other. One other factor is hazard has the pressure in this matchup as the favorite williamsburg is young and has nothing to lose. Gonna be a great game.

Okay Jughead, just a few comments in response to yours.

First of all your comment about egos and enough balls to go around is crazy. I challenge you to find a single instance on any film of any Hazard game over the past couple years of any player showing or acting frustrated over not getting the ball. Look at Hazard's stats, they are probably the most balanced team in the state offensively. Running, passing, freshman, or senior, and who gets the ball, totally balanced. Now obviously all outstanding athletes want to get the ball every time it is snapped and Hazard has several outstanding, very competitive athletes. Hazard is one of the best teams in the state at downfield blocking. Hazard breaks a big running play and all three receivers will be down field taking peoples heads off. Whoever gets the ball all the other playmakers (and line) go 100% until the whistle is blown trying to get the guy who has the ball a TD or at least every yard they can get him. That is the sign of kids putting it all on the line for the team. No egos, just very competitive kids, in everything they do. The coaching staff does an excellent job of taking what the defense gives them and getting the open man the ball. Hazard has a lot of playmakers.

I just looked at Williamsburg's stats so to me your ego comment is directed at the wrong team. And i doubt you are going to see anything different when it comes to Hazard's defense against Williamsburg's playmakers. Wherever they line up Hazard feels hey have a DB or linebacker that can cover them. I am very interested in seeing how well Williamsburg's star athletes preform against Hazard's varsity defense.

To be honest most of them would rather play defense than offense. When you hear the Hazard kids talking it isn't about how many rushing yards or catches they have, they talk about how many teams the their Defense has held under 100 yards, about how many shutout quarters they have, about gang tackling. They talk about how hard their teammates hit, not about getting the ball.

Oh, and you also are singing Rocky Top and praising the Tenn athletes and talking about how UK ranks in the SEC. Have you seen the SEC polls lately? UT hasn't been just dominating UK over the past several years, let alone the SEC. UK's problem is coaches and recruiting, they can't even secure the top players in their own state.

Kentucky isn't doing to bad nationally in high school football. Several polls has had Trinity at or near the top since early this summer. I do not know for sure but they are saying that Trinity is fielding 13 D1 players right now.

I don't see the game friday night being a great game.
