Anderson County vs. Conner Predictions
#38
Class 5A, Region 3 Championship: Anderson County (10-2) at Conner (7-5)
WHEN/WHERE: 7:30 p.m. today at Fred Nevel Stadium, Hebron.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Conner is coming off an 84-48 win over previously undefeated Franklin County in which it rushed for a single-game state record 761 yards and amassed 854 yards total offense, the second-highest single-game total in state history. Anderson County lost to that same Franklin County team, 56-24, and barely beat South Oldham, 33-26, after Conner had defeated South Oldham, 42-22. That doesn't mean this shouldn't be a good game as Anderson County has a 1,000-yard rusher and 2,500-yard passer. Conner junior dual-purpose back Cameron Fogle is expected to played after sitting out the second half of last week's win with a sprained knee. His replacement, sophomore Jesse McKeehan, rushed for 254 yards on 13 carries.

BOTTOM LINE: Conner has played a significantly tougher schedule than Anderson County and performed well against a chunk of it, even in some losses, so as long as the Cougars carry over their second-half defensive performance from last week they should win comfortably to advance to the state semifinals for the first time since 1983.
