Just like the prediction thread I see a lot of blind bias shining through from both fanbases.

Here are my honest truths from the game:

1. Belfry D-O-M-I-N-A-T-E-D the LOS on both sides of the ball.

Breathitt literally could get nothing running up the middle despite Belfry only having 3 and 4 total down linemen. The Pirates lived in the Bobcat backfield and the only rushing yards Breathitt got were outside using their athleticism in space.

On the other side, Breathitt did a great job slowing Belfry down, but in terms of the LOS the Bobcats rarely were getting penetration despite the stacked box, and Williams had plenty of time to pass.

After the two TO's basically left the Bobcat D on the field for 12 minutes you could tell it was Game Over. There were blobs of steam coming from the Breathitt players mouth on the cold night, while Belfry looked like it was the First Half still. Tre Willis then took over.

2. Belfry DID NOT run at will. Up until the fatigue I just mentioned above, Breathitt was very stout and played very good assignment football and did a great job of tackling. The Bobcat backers played a great game and Trent was everywhere making plays. The Pirates had success moving the ball, but it wasn't like they were just rattling the chains down after down until late in the game. The Bobcat D played good enough to win.

3. The Turnovers were the deciding factor, but to suggest they were unforced is asinine!

One turnover was unforced, the mental breakdown on the punt. Warren made a "grown man" play by ripping the ball, Collins got crushed and a helmet was right on the football, and the INT at the end of the Half came due to Trent being pressured heavily and noone being open. Nothing has been said of the Belfry INT after the Warren robbery in Bobcat territory. Williams forced a pass when he had Justin Johnson in the flat with noone within ten yards of him.Had Belfry not turned that over and drove for a score the complexion of the game would have changed drastically.

The "unforced errors" that are being overlooked are the Breathitt Personal Foul to continue a Belfry scoring drive and the two Belfry personal fouls that subsequently set-up, then continued, the ensuing Breathitt scoring drive. Neither of these points should have been on the scoreboard if both teams don't make these mistakes.




DSR actually showed that he had a pretty good idea of what he was talking about leading up to the game, but to suggest that Breathitt was the better team...let alone suggest they should have won by 3 score... tells me that maybe the "friends at the Jackson PD" should have came for him instead and took him to a mental asylum. These were two very even teams...I don't think Belfry is 14 points better... but after seeing how Belfry controlled the LOS and completely shut down Bretahitt's running game (except one play) and took away their deep passing game while at the friendly confines of Jackson, KY...I don't see how anyone could formulate anything other than the Pirates were a slightly better team.

Breathitt never displayed the ability to drive the football the entire night. They simply did not have the patience to stick with the intermediate passing game without the deep pass and the running game being there. Belfry did show that ability. Breathitt never had an answer for Justin Johnson as well.He couldn't get the "big one" that we are used to seeing, but he was avergaing around 5 yard per carry and his quickness gave the Bobcats fits.

Evidently you didn't watch the game. Belfry made it difficult, but BC
CLEARLY showed better ability to move the ball against Belfry's D,
than the reverse. Belfry only got one drive for a score, their
other scores came on short fields courtesy of BC to's. BC repeatedly
rose to the challenge and stuffed Belfry in the first half. And did
so on Belfry's 1st drive in the 3rd, only to see their great effort
wasted by a B&^%$ flag that gave Belfry a 1st down.

All in all it was basically as I previewed the game, including my
contention that a siginificant to differential would make the diff
either way. BC WAS able to match the Bucs effectively up front,
and Belfry, while making it tough, was not able to stifle
BC's offense. You take away the to's, and BC wins, and
likely wins as I said 28-7, because late Belfry would have HAD to
pass, and that means pick 6's.
