Butler 31 Henderson County 24 (OT)
#5
Alonzo Brock scored his fourth touchdown of the game in overtime and then Henry Gallusser recovered a fumble at the 1-yard line to lead Butler High School’s football team past Henderson County 31-24 Friday night to win the Class 6-A, Region One championship. The Bears (11-2) play host to top-ranked and undefeated Trinity next week in the state semifinals.

Brock, a senior running back, gained 97 yards on 16 carries and scored on runs of 3, 4, 2 and 10 yards. The last one, along with Aaron Miles’ extra-point kick, gave the Bears a 31-24 lead in overtime. Henderson County then took over and reached the 1-yard line on its first possession. After a penalty put the Colonels (9-4) back to the 6, they reached the 1 again on second down. Quarterback Hunter Comer tried to sneak it in from there but fumbled and Gallusser, a senior linebacker, fell on it.

Henderson County got an excellent game from Rushad Whitlock, who scored on a 7-yard run and a 96-yard kickoff return.
