(Rumor) Jason Kinner out as Paintsville's head coach.

Hoot Gibson Wrote:In its best days, Paintsville rarely was a serious contender for a state title. Whoever takes the job will be a miracle worker if he returns the program to where it can be competitive in some years with Pikeville and Hazard. Paintsville has a relatively small enrollment and it has a soccer program that competes for talent. Short of hiring an outstanding recruiter and giving him a big budget to work with, it is unrealistic for Paintsville fans to expect more than a rare regional title. (I am kidding about hiring a recruiter.)

Late 70's and most of the 80's would be considered Paintsville's best days. Paintsville was a serious contenter to win a state title most of those years. Only the district champion made the playoffs back in those days. Paintsville was ranked one of the tops in the state every year for a reason. When it came playoff time, you didn't see these crazy blowouts you see now days, any team could win on any night. No, Paintsville doesn't have a state championship trophy, they do have a couple runner-up trophies.
