Louis Dover has stepped down after eight seasons as the head football coach at Seneca.
âTwelve years is a long time, and I didnât ever realize it had been 12 years,â said Dover, who started at Seneca in 1999 as an assistant coach before being named head coach in 2004. âWhen youâre doing something you love at a place you like doing it, time flies.â
Dover posted a 29-59 record, with his best season coming in 2008 as the Redhawks finished 6-6 and reached the second round of the Class 6-A playoffs.
This yearâs team finished 3-9, recording a surprising first-round playoff victory over Marshall County before falling 21-0 to Butler in the second round.
âClass 6-A football in Jefferson County is very hard, and weâve been competitive the last couple of years,â Dover said. âOur record didnât show it this year, but I can promise you that every Friday night we showed up.â
Dover said heâd like to continue coaching next season.
Seneca athletic director Scott Greenwald said the school is accepting applications for Doverâs replacement.
Seneca is one of three Louisville schools looking for a new head football coach, joining Moore and Waggener.
