Why are championship games not televised?
#21
2dog Wrote:Why drive 5 hours to watch a blowout anyway? This crap of holding the finals in western KY. is just crazy. What about those in EKY that might want to go, it might take them 8 or 9 hours to drive. Louisville or Lex. is the only fair option.

#1 there until recently wasn't anyplace in Eastern Ky that could hold all 6 games over two days (EKU now has turf)

#2 it doesn't take 8 or 9 hours to drive from Ashland to Paducah, so the drive isn't quite as bad as you make it sound.

#3 Fair? how fair is it for far western team or far eastern team to have to go to Louisville? Lexington, even though it is the most centrally located (still a long drive for Mayfield, Paducah ect...), can't host as they have no facility that could host 6 games in two days. Bowling Green / WKU do a great job hosting the championship and the stadium is much more suited to HS Championship Games than Papa Johns or Commonwealth.

As far as blowouts go, there are blowouts every year in every state. This is not just an Ky anomaly.
