Capital Punishment--Yes or No . . . .
#21
Old Gravey legs Wrote:[QUOTE="KentuckyHillBilly5321"]You know--I don't think that this is a stupid statement at all. I understand the "eye for an eye" thing--but I just don't feel like the God that I believe in would believe in such hypocritical behavior.

Brother how many of Egypt first born son were slayed by God?
Our lord has not always been so understanding.
Next time you put salt on your maters thank ole Lots wife and all those souls in sodem and gamora.

I was very clear--the God that "I believe in" may not be the same one that you believe in. Also--I know that some people think that the bible is a Godly written work of literature--but I don't necessarily believe it.

If God, overall, in the 10 commandments says that "thou shall not kill" why would God turn himself into a hypocrit? There is way too much subjectivity in those statements. I just don't see the God that I believe in condoning killing with more killing. It doesn't make logical sense.

Not to mention--if God did have these beliefs--that was what--2005 years ago. Why are we so naive in thinking that God's beliefs haven't changed with the times? After all--he is in control (and I believe that)--I have a feeling that we are all puppets in his game of life. And if we try to do the right thing (even after we make a bad mistake) God will forgive us. I think it is really foolish to think that God only believes things from millions of years ago. I have a feeling that our divine being has a more of a dynamic thought process than that.
