Danville family's YouTube video of wide-eyed daughter is a hit online
#1
As new parents of twins, Adam Brown and his wife, Ashley, were at their wits' end about to how to end their colicky daughter Charlotte's inconsolable crying.

"We swaddled her, rocked her," Adam Brown said. "We were swinging her, massaging her."

Nothing worked.

That is, until Brown, of Danville, made a trilling "motorboat" noise.

At that, Brown said, "she just went silent" and bugged her eyes out in amazement. "It was hilarious," he said.

A 32-second video showing Baby Charlotte's response to her daddy's silly sounds has become an Internet sensation.

The video, in which Charlotte stops fussing and looks up with big googly eyes, had gotten more than 1.48 million views on YouTube as of Saturday night.

Brown said it has been viewed all over the world and featured by a host of television shows, including Jimmy Kimmel Live, Inside Edition and Good Morning America.

"It's been a very surreal week," he said.

He said a Japanese television show approached the family on Thursday about showing the video.

Brown said Charlotte, now 2½ months old, was about two weeks old when he made the video to share with her grandparents.

"They all had a really good laugh," he said.

Then his sister-in-law, who works for BuzzFeed.com, suggested at Christmas that she'd like to post it there.

Brown said he thought it might be a good way to draw attention to his blog about being a dad of twins.

So, on Jan. 18, he pulled the video off his phone and posted it to the blog and YouTube. His sister-in-law linked to it.

That's when things got exciting.

"It went viral by daybreak the next day," Brown said. "It's been a fun ride."

Brown said the family hasn't received any compensation from the television shows that have replayed the video, which is how he wants it.

"That is exploiting the girl at that point," he said, although he added that Google ads now run at the bottom of the video on YouTube. He said any money from that will go straight into a college fund to be split evenly between Charlotte and Greyson.

Brown said he and his wife plan to downplay Charlotte's 15 minutes of fame as the babies grow.

"I hope that this is such a small moment in her life and she goes on to do even bigger and greater things," he said.

Many of the comments posted on You Tube have been frustrating to the couple, who have grown tired of hearing what an "ugly baby" they have.
