Yes, I realize they can't legally profile when trying to rid their communities of illegals. Officers are sort of in a tough spot. They can only check the legality of individuals if they are breaking the law in some way. So, as long as illegals are good boys and girls, they can continue to go about their business of being an illegal alien. In other words, they can break one law as long as they don't break another. Makes it almost impossible to to nail hundreds of thousands of illegals, all of which are breaking the law. What law am I allowed to break as long as I don't break another? If I'm a police officer and I want to crack down on illegal aliens in my county, the first thing I do is gather evidence. I would be pretty stupid to stake out citizens I know are legal. Wouldn't it make sense to gather evidence from the Mexican citizens? But I can't, because their Mexican, right? "Illegal" Mexicans do the jobs you say we won't do. Does that make them legal?

So, can a law officer check their credentials/photo id on a routine stop or not? I was under the impression that they couldn't, but got "served" when I made that statement earlier in the post.

It seems to me that I must show photo id when asked but illegals can't even be asked. If that's correct, then it's just more BS. I don't know....maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I've worked and/or gone to school since age 12. It just seems like the citizens' whose back this country is built and sustained have fewer rights that non-citizens who are here illegally. I've been saving for my grand children's college education ever since they were born, but suddenly it appears more profitable if I divorce my husband, renounce my citizenship, move to Mexico, come back illegally. THEN, I wouldn't have to pay for nearly as much and no one would be allowed to challenge my position.

That's just messed up.
