I laughed when I heard this story. Obviously not about the Public Intoxication but that he said, "Are you kidding me?"
It does irk me a little that they called him the "Three Wooden Crosses" singer. Really? The man is known as a Country Music singer, he is known for "Forever and Ever Amen", "On the Other Hand", "I Told You So" and "He Walked On Water"
Though two of them sound like Gospel songs, they are not. If you Google Randy Travis and Randy Travis Youtube, the song mentioned in the article isn't even on the first page before ALL THESE OTHER SONGS ARE LISTED.
Obviously, the intent was to question the character of a Gospel singer, by listing a song of his that charted well in the Gospel Charts. It would be to the same extent as calling Kanye West a Christian singer because he has a song called "Jesus Walks", just listen to anything else he sings or says.
Sorry, the media just irks me sometimes. I guarantee that if Trace Adkins did something really great for a 3rd World Country, they would refer to them as the "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" singer and not as the "Arlington" Singer. Or if Alan Jackson did the same they would call him the "Designated Drinker" singer and not the guy that released a widely-successful Gospel album.
Just to be clear, I am not defending Randy Travis, he allegedly broke the law, so consequences are possibly in order. I am just bashing the media because they always do things like that.
