Bat Cats sweep No. 2 South Carolina

The Kentucky baseball team scored three runs in the sixth inning to beat second-ranked South Carolina 6-3 Sunday and pull off a sweep of the two-time defending national champs at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
Former Covington Catholic standout Luke Maile went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead the No. 16 Cats, who ran their school-record best start to 21-0 in their first Southeastern Conference series of the season.
But Kentucky Coach Gary Henderson said the nation's longest winning streak does not carry much significance.
"We enjoy winning," he said. "The bigger picture is that there are 30 of them. And you need to win as many as you can to get to Birmingham (for the SEC Tournament), and once you've done that, you need to win as many as you can so you can host. And then once you do that, you need to win as many as you can so that you can get a Super Regional. And that's kind of the order of things."
UK starts a four-game road trip at Cincinnati on Wednesday, then travels to Tennessee for three in Knoxville starting Friday.
