As to the bolded only, this assertion is preposterous, we may take out Iran but, the whole world with them? Yet, Iran would obviously have it coming if they are going to try to destroy us in the manner you have outlined. So, let me try to understand this, the threat is there and you can see it clearly. But, you're postition is that Iran will never be allowed to carry out this diabolical plot to destroy America. Because our own military will circumvent their ability to become a nuclear power, since they have sworn to destroy us and our ally Israel. This is the nature of national defense, as I understand it. I assume you don't have a problem with our military stoping another country be it Iran, or North Korea, or whomever, from destroying our lives?

Im not sure you know how our nuclear defense works. We have enough nukes to end the world about 500 times over. The people who control the nuke launches are constantly in communication with people being told not to launch. This is so if we were to be hit with a first strike there would be a retaliation in case everyone in DC was killed or something along that line. So even though the sites that will launch the nukes are hardened against the EMP, the communication lines are not. There was actually a time once when communication was lost and planes started taking off for their kill everyone everywhere plan. Launch silo's were preparing to launch. Obviously things worked out as we are all still here, but yes in the event of a massive end of America nuclear first strike the current retaliation plan is one that nukes every square inch of ground on this planet. That same plan exists for an EMP as it is basically the same things as a 1000 nukes hitting the continental US. While not initially as devastating the effects would be the same, America is over.
