Warren looks to me like he could be the prototypical triple option QB. They could have ran the option for all they wanted last night. You will see some huge gains from that play this season, both from Warren and either HB. Not to mention Carr looks awfully good at FB and has some big play potential.

I personally think they will be very explosive, especially after seeing them on the field.

Did I say that? Wink

I said:
"Belfry's running game does not have the personnel to be geared towards the big play like teams in the past." Belfry will always be able to bust the big play, especially with the way defenses have to stack the box. My concern lies in thinking about Breathitt County, Bell County, and Central who have enough team speed to account for a single missed assignment.

There is no Doug Howard, David Jones, Matt Maynard, Dustin May, or even for that matter Thomas Varney. Guys who could break a 5 yard gain into a 55 yard gain with a little wiggle and top end speed.I see a host of backs who are extremely talented at getting those 10-15 yard gains, but are not true home run threats like guys of the past.

Does Belfry have to have this to win? Of course not. There is no better team in 3A at grinding out drives and giving you a death by a thousand cuts. Would the potential of the big play give Belfry a better chance of getting over the hump against Central, of course.

Thinking back to the Howard/Jones teams, or for that matter the Dustin May/Ivan Lee teams who fell just short, you knew on any given play there was a chance Belfry could get behind the defense and house it, all it took was one missed tackle or one guy getting sucked in on a playfake. Don't know if this team has that X factor on the ground, but with what is certain to be man coverage on defense and a QB who can put the ball where it needs to be I can't help but think that they do have that opportunity through the air each time Sani runs play action.

I am excited to see what this team does, specifically with an athlete like Sani who has the potential to be the best fit at QB Belfry has had in decades.
