I saw the scrimmage at Belfry and the Lions were very sloppy. They have alot to learn in a short time as is the case with most new coaches. I do expect them to improve greatly through the comming season. The run defense was pretty good for the most part, but the pass D was not just virtually nonexistant, it was completely nonexistant. Lots to improve on there, but that's why they do the scrimmages. I'm glad we had a quality program like Belfry to show us where our biggest weaknesses are. Coach Brooks has a few weeks before the 1st tough opponent, Morgan County not withstanding. They thumped us good last year, but I believe it a winable game. The big thing besides the pass D was how are they going to score. It should be easier to run on most of the teams they play than what it was against Belfry, but I think Ashland and Johnson Central will be just as tough to run against, and this was just a scrimmage. That being said, I'll end with saying that team size is very good up front, but not in the backfield. As for speed, as a team...not good at all, but a 2 or 3 of the smaller guys were quick on their feet but that was it. Good luck to Coach Brooks and his Lions.
