Folks, let's just stop for a second, take a deep breath, and relax. There is NO WAY that "hot seat" talk should come up at Pikeville. The Panthers overachieved last year and made it to the State Semi-Finals, losing to eventual State Champion Hazard on their home field. The end of the season took 15 seniors out of a Class A program (less than 30 players out last year, total). Tremendous coaching job turned in by Coach McNamee and his staff in 2011. 2012 brings 15 freshmen replacing those 15 departed seniors. 30 players on roster, exactly half of them being freshmen. Game One brought a lot of freshmen mistakes, as expected. And Harlan is a pretty good ball club. Did McNamee and his staff forget how to coach in one game? I don't think so. Sure, Pikeville has a tough schedule for its experience level, but that will only make them better in the long run. No, it doesn't appear this will be a 10-win season, but let Louisville Central explain how overrated that is. As Backwoods pointed out, this team will get better week by week, as the young players learn what they're supposed to do and react rather than think too much. I honestly expect this team to be a dangerous "out" come playoff time. And sit back and watch the next three or four years. If you're a Pikeville fan, it's gonna be a lot of fun!!! So let's not start with the "hot seat" talk after Week 1!!!
