Romney Says He Paid at Least 13% Tax Rate in Last Decade
#8
Thirteen percent may not sound like much. However, it is a far higher rate than is paid by the great majority of taxpayers who actually pay income taxes.

The percentage is a percentage of Romney's adjusted gross income (he could have done a better job of explaining that). It is the figure before itemized deductions for such items as charitable contributions, property taxes, etc. are deducted and before any deduction for exemptions is taken.

Romney gives a lot to charity. For example he gave all the money he inherited from his family to BYU (another fact he should do a better job of making public).

Modesty is a virtue. However, when you are running for office against a guy whose favorite and most used word is "I", you better fight back. Romney has a good story to tell including the successes of Bain Capital (ask all those workers at Staples and at the dozens of other failing companies and hundreds of thousands of jobs his company saved). He better get it told by someone.
