Head Coach Robbie Lucas emphasized both sides of the win.

“Southwestern is a young team,” he said. “They’ve got good size, they’re just young. They made some young mistakes tonight. And we’re still making those mistakes. You can tell. They’ll be a much better team by the end of the season. Coach Stevens does a very good job.”

“Our kids got the passing game going tonight,” he continued. “A little bit of it had to do with us executing. A little bit of it had to do with the coverage we were facing. Getting the passing game going really helped.”

Lucas was pleased with the performance of some of the players we don’t usually hear from.

“I was proud of Patrick Williams,” he noted. “ We got them on a jet sweep (kick return) and he took it to the house (79 yards). Of course it gets called back,(on a personal foul penalty) but he still showed us something. He looked good, Will Lange looked good. Cam Cheuvront looked really good early, and what he did showed his time is coming.”

“We’re trying to build a team concept here,” Lucas continued to emphasize.
