[Panther Thunder]

Pikeville has owned Paintsville, which makes me happy lol. Losing twice in the past 26-27 years. The best thing is most games are not blow outs. Just good consistent wins over a historically good program. Paintsville being a fairly decently smaller school, but very similar in passion, support, tradition for both schools.

And ever since 2001, Belfry has owned Pikeville.

Beechwood would be another one that has killed many Panther seasons and seem to always have our number. I will go count it up, but I seem to think that out of 20 regional championship seasons, 3 ended with Titles, 1 with a runner-up to Trigg County, and 1 runner-up to Beechwood. It seems like 7-9 of the other 15 runs have been ended by Beechwood. I will check in on it and get back.

If Jetpilot hits this thread up, he should have some good ones. He knows more about Pre-1999 than I do for sure and had good numbers about Hazard at one point. It seems it went from Pikeville always beating Hazard, to a lot of splits, now Hazard is on a roll.

Beechwood has won every match up since 1989. In the 13 match ups (Not counting the Suspended game), Beechwood leads the series 9-4. And in 11 of the 13 games, a State Champion was involved. The Tigers have cost the Panthers at least one state title. And a legitimate shot at 2. Other games, Pikeville was not going to win the title (big losses to Beechwood indicate they would not have had much shot in the title game). So 3 of the closer losses with Beechwood have cost the Panthers up to 3 State Championships.

A series like this is full of mega-important games. Kind of like What Beechwood and Mayfield have going on in the West now. And unfortunately, Beechwood had the upper hand against the Maroon and White.
