Belfry's passing game is very stout this year and they have had quite a bit of success with it against Ashland and JC. This is probably the best equipped Belfry team to throw the ball in well over a decade. In fact, just as you use Johnson Central as an example of "why not to pass", in that same game the difference maker was Belfry's ability to convert key third downs and find success moving the ball. On all three of Belfry's scoring drives it was their passing game that resulted in crucial conversions that continued the drives.

Belfry will not get away from their bread and butter, especially now that appears they are on the verge of having a completely healthy backfield for the firs time since about Week 2, but they have had issues that would help be resolved by utilizing a spread offense in specific cases.

Trailing against Ashland in the 4th Belfry was still using play action on obvious 3rd and Long situations. Warren was throwing a beautiful ball all day and was accurate as usual, but Ashland was teeing off on him every pass. Had Warren operated out of the gun on these obvious passing downs he would have had more time to see up field and throw, instead of getting crushed after he carried out his play fake and dropped back. Belfry has also had some bouts of gross clock mis-management in a 2 minute drill setting.

To put it bluntly, this is not your typical Belfry offense and Warren is not your typical Belfry QB. If you ask Ashland and JC fans they will attest that Belfry is much more equipped to throw the ball then in year's past.With that said, if Belfry never has to throw a pass then Haywood is happy and that is what he strives for every game... if Belfry is having to throw 15 times then they are probably losing.

yeah they do have a very talented Qb in warren probably best I have seen all year. They will need that passing game to be effective to beat a team like Louisville Central.
