Ashland @ Highlands - 11/9/12 - 4A Second Round
I had the opportunity to meet a Highlands coach at a baseball tourney at Ft Knox about 4 years ago. He was very candid in his conversation about allegatons of rule violations. He made a statement that has bee echoed on here earlier. He said something to the effect of, "The program recruits itself. All of the coaches are on guard 24/7 against anything that would cause an accusation. Even to the point that if my son were a good middle school player in the northern KY area and someone saw us having this conversation it could cause problems. Good players enroll at Highlands because their parents want the best opportunity and all the Ohio tags on cars in the parking lot are more than likely from people who drive company cars and work in Cincinnati." I am not even sure how the topic came up but he was a class act all the way during our conversation. I am old and can't remember his name, but that really doesnt matter, point is they are King of the Mountain right now and if you want to be King for a day you have to knock them off. Is it probable, no. Is it possible, yes. Whatever degree of hope that Ashland has they will take it and run with it and at the end of the day, if these kids want to be remembered, they will accomplish the improbable.
