There is a Beast Rising out of the East !!! (BREATHITT)

But, at the risk of being an asshole, I have no earthly clue why you are using the Belfry/Somerset 2010 game as any barometer to measure by, particularly as if the close final score is any indicator that Somerset is on the same level as Belfry this year? Usually you are a sound poster with intelligent contributions, but this one even has me perplexed.

Somerset entered that game 13-0 and the consensus #1 team in 3A returning a whole host of talent off the 3A runner-up team from the previous season, Belfry entered the game 9-4 and was painfully young and finding their footing in what everyone viewed as a rebuilding year. Somerset entered that game as a 3-4 TD favorite by most people. If anything, the close game is an indictment on Somerset as one of the weaker Belfry teams of the past decade (they were talented, but extremely Sophomore dependent) not only kept it close with the veteran Somerset team, they beat them.

Now how you extrapolate that a close game in 2010 when a Belfry team playing several of the same players who are two years older defeated Somerset correlates to Somerset being just as good as Belfry in 2012 is beyond me. With that said, I respect Somerset and they are worthy of their ranking in 2A as they have a solid defense and have beat some very good 2A teams this year. With their defense, I think for anyone to believe a 3A team would go into Somerset and blow them out is looking through rose colored glasses.

Just out of curiousity, how many does Somerset still have starting from that 2010 team? Belfry has 4 on defense ... Mullins, Ghormley, Messer, and Warren. Messer also saw some playing time offensively, but not much. If Somerset has ONE I'd be surprised.
