13th Region Tournament Profits Take Huge Hit at HCHS
#1
The numbers are out. As expected, hosting the tournament at Harlan County High School turned out to be a costly one.

In recent years at the Arena in Corbin, profits stayed above $90,000.00 every year.
At the Arena:
2010- $111,233.50 (14,764 Tickets Sold)
2011- $106,199.00 (14,487 Tickets Sold)
2012- $90,488.00 (11,904 Tickets Sold)

Average-$102,640.16 (13,718 Tickets Sold)

At Harlan County High School
2013- $61,640.00 (7,702 Tickets Sold)

Thats a $40,000.00 hit.

Having the Boys and Girls Tournaments at the Arena is the only way to go from a financial standpoint. Sales at the arena nearly doubles that of what was sold this year at HCHS. HCHS has wondeful facilities, but the money lost this year could have really helped 13th region schools, especially the smaller schools.

Jackson County is set to host the Tournament next year, and they have announced the tournament will return to the Arena, and most likely will for the foreseeable future.
