Cotton should have never left (forced out). Don't get me wrong, I loved Coach Whitaker but he wouldn't have been hired if Corbin knew Tim Couch would have ended up staying at Leslie. They were close to getting him but Tim showed loyalty and already had made a name for himself so I don't blame him.

I will not discredit Jewell. When it comes to pure knowledge of the game, he and his staff are as good as they get. I honestly think that they simply out-smart themselves too much. Of course I am a Corbin fan but realistically, Corbin should have no less than 4 state titles under Coach Jewell.

-The 2000-01 team (Sizemore, Cook, Neal, Mills, Hoover) were the best 2A team in the state and better than Boyle. I'll argue that to my grave. Cook got hurt against Moore and it was too quick of a turnaround against Glasgow for them to readjust.

-The 2001-02 team lost on the questionable play call to Hoover when going for 2 against Larue. Jarrod Lawson was unstoppable towards the end of that game and should have goten the ball at the goal line.

-The 03-04 team lost at E-Town in the playoffs but certainly was the best team in the state that year. That same Etown team got destroyed as Seniors the following year by Corbin who graduated a lot of starters.

-The 04-05 team again lost on a questionable play call in the state semis vs. Owensboro Catholic. This time it was Brad Lawson who was unstoppable on the final drive only for them to put the play into the hands of a freshman QB.

Those are the 4 years that I believe Corbin certainly should have won the State. In 2009, had Watkins not dropped the pass at Newport, I think Corbin would have won that one. I'm not blaming him b/c it's hard to catch a ball despite being wide open when it's 8 degrees outside.

The following year was another good chance when Corbin went 13-1.

Cotton Adams would have definitely won some of those and without question would have won in 1996. That Corbin team that Whitaker had was as good as any team in the state A-AAAA. You just don't see that kind of talent put together often.
